Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Well, the seal grey one didn't work out but I found this silver one.
I am a refugee from the 993 board where they seem to post pics a lot more than this board.
I have owned my C4S for 2 months now and I finally downloaded some pics from my digital, so here is the first.
How 'bout a photo thread? I would like to see more of your rides as well.
And yes, the amber lenses will be going soon!!
I assume that you used to have a 993 and switched? If so I would love to hear your impressions, particularly after having owned it for a couple of months.

Barry:
I have always been a big 993 fan (still am). I was turned off by the early 996's - just a matter of personal preference, I think. A few months ago I had a chance to get a close look at an 02 seal grey C4S and I decided that if I were to ever own a 996, that it would have to be a C4S. I liked the front end much better and the flared fenders, wide body looked great to me - thought it actually looked better than the 993's. Well, the seal grey one didn't work out but I found this silver one.
The next move was a test drive, and that did it.
I have really enjoyed every Porsche I have owned - this is my fifth, starting with a 1980 SC - but this car is without question the best drive, including the 993 which I thought was an amazing car (it is). But the C4S does so many things better than the 993 - better acceleration, better handling, better ride, more comfortable.
One of the factors in looking for a replacement for the 993 was that I wanted to drive the car on a daily basis and even though many of the 993 owners don't agree, I find that this C4S is a much easier car to drive daily. And, it has warranty. After listening to all the posts about mechanical problems, I probably won't ever own a Porsche without warranty again.
I have been so fortunate over the past 20 years - I have never had a significant mechanical problem through owning 5 cars. Hope it stays that way
So, I still think the 993 is a great car and I think it will always have a cult-like following due to it's unique position in the development of the 911, but for me, this car is much better. And I think it's a gorgeous car to look at as well so what's bad about any of that?
RRLOwen, your experience is like mine re the 993/996C4S choice. I second your comments exactly. I reluctantly decided to look at replacing teh 993 after I had the CEL and valve guide dilemna. I drove it daily ( sold it with 80k miles) and am doing the same with the 996. I do miss some of the directness of feel, and some of the plastic in the 996 interior feels low budget, but the accelaration ann all around package is nicer, especially because it's a daily driver. I do have an aftermarket warranty which will kick in after the factory one is over, that will take me to 100k. Frankly, I only discovered these forums because I was researching teh CEL issue. Anyway, welcome from another refugee.

I'm not actually on the coast - reside in the Southern Interior about 3.5 hrs west/north of Vancouver on Hwy. 1 (2.5 in a p-car). Kamloops!!
Lomcevak: Your file cannot be larger than 146kb (I think). There is a "manage attachments" button which allows you to designate the source of the file to download.
Great summary of the 2 models. I agree completely with the advantages of the 996.
But I wont and dont have to unload my 993C4S. Its gonna be a classic one day.
Itzkirb...what kit did you lower your ride with? How is the ride with it that low? (I know it must handle great)...can this be done on the C4S?
Looks SWEET.....
