Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

13 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi Guys Just want to know if up-grading the front-spoiler and the side skirts would help the nose of the 996 stay grounded or it is just aesthetic mod? Best Wishes WOT

POST 2Original post

I believe Porsche designs their Aero kits in such a way that they require the corresponding wing be incorporated to insure that the proper downforce is achieved when adding a nose such as the GT3 to your car.

POST 3Original post

I have my wife ride in the trunk to be sure the front end stays grounded. It's quieter in the cockpit too.

POST 5Original post

It makes a subtle difference, but mostly the new GT3 front bumper looks cool, IMO.

POST 6Original post

If you want the front grounded more I would suggest getting the ROW M030 or some aftermarket coilovers so that you can get the rake of the car the way Porsche intended. The US ride height has the front end up higher than the ROW.

POST 7Original post

technically it makes a difference, but you won't notice it.

POST 8Original post

The guys at my shop say that if you have the chin spoiler on the front you will need the GT3 rear on to keep the car stable at high >100 mph. I have PSS9 ,the car is very low and sometimes drive with it off on the road. I never track it without both parts. The side skirts are for looks.

POST 9Original post

I've tracked and driven mine over 100mph with the chin spoiler and NO Wing. I've had no Issues. I also have PSS9's.

POST 10Original post

I have the front and side skirts only and have not notice much difference with the handling at track speed. I know that the aero kit does help stability as it was designed for the GT3 cup cars, but I think the real dfference is not felt until above 130MPH. So the short answer it is more for looks on a street driven car. If you are looking for more front end grip try upping the tire size to 235. Also a larger rim 8" or 8.5" will give you a wider track. Consider a suspension kit like M030, X74, H&R, PSS9 it all depends on your goal street vs. track. I have M030.

POST 11 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Well As I already have the PSS 9 fitted, putting the Front spoiler would not help me so much. But I am sure it would look really good on the car. I will not put the Rear wing, since I believe it is a bit overkill for a 300 HP car. Best Wishes WOT

POST 12Original post

WOT, you know I have the GT3 front bumper and side skirts. (NO WING) I drove the car at 260KPH for testing: The car felt much more "in control" No more that loose fell. Anyway, X74 is due to arrive next thrusday

POST 13Original post

I have a feeling that the less air you are getting under the car, the better for you, and if someone knows the basics of physics, he could understand the phenomenon venturi, ( as carburetor work on that principle), which means that the car will be sucked towards the ground. The other thing that we should have in mind is that the more controlled air we have around the car , again the better for us. To my opinion the kit should be installed, as a complete kit, even if there is no noticeable difference. Front chin spoiler, makes the biggest difference of all. Porsche on the other hand suggest to never just the rear spoiler without the front bumper. Doesn’t make clear the opposite though. Someone has written that side skirts are just for looks…I disagree…again side skirts prevent air to come under the chassis….
