Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I have checked the bolts on the connections and they are as tight as I can get them.
Leading evidence: 'Check bolts' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Check bolts' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.
Source reports, not a diagnosis or a success probability. Counts refer to discussions and can overlap.

I just wanted to see if tightening the clamps would offer a simple "at home" solution first

Try tightening the connection when the pipes are hot.

Hopefully you haven't tightened them to the extent I did, but I would warn you to look carefully to be sure the pipes and clamps are smooth, round, and without dents before you continue to tighten for the leaks.

Also be sure the ends of the pipe are within about 1/4 to 1/2 inch apart to be sure the clamps don't miss the end of pipe and tighten uneven.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I have a GHL exhaust on my 01 996 C2. I think there is a small leak around where the exhaust joins on to the cat outlet pipes.
The symptoms are as follows:
When cold starting, and there is condensation coming out of the tailpipes, there is also condensation seeping out of the join.
It is also much louder when cold, and it gets quieter as the exhaust warms up - I assume because the pipes expand with the heat and make a better seal.
The advice I'm looking for is - what's the best way to fix this problem? I have checked the bolts on the connections and they are as tight as I can get them. Is there anything I can put in the joints to make them seal better?
Any ideas?

I had same problem and it turned out to be that the clamps had been overtightened, by me most likely, and had dent the pipe slightly and also squished up the sleeve on the clamp making a slight leak. I had to remove the muffler and use a pipe expander on them. Then I took the sleeve out of the clamp to hammer them back to a smooth round shape, hammering them around a large socket to keep the shape round.
Hopefully you haven't tightened them to the extent I did, but I would warn you to look carefully to be sure the pipes and clamps are smooth, round, and without dents before you continue to tighten for the leaks. It is pretty easy to crank the bolts tighter and dent the stuff. It is only necessary to ensure a seal, not a structural clamp. Also be sure the ends of the pipe are within about 1/4 to 1/2 inch apart to be sure the clamps don't miss the end of pipe and tighten uneven.
I messed up and it was a lot of work to repair and I know everything above is elementary but I was looking for some strange reason for my problem and overlooked the obvious.

Thanks, I'll try that. You're not the only person that's suggested that.
Of course based on other replies, I'm worried about over-tightening them now as well.

I called Brian @ GHL and he very kindly offered to have a look at it early next week. It's always nice to see people who stand behind their products
