Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Does anyone know when the 998 generation is coming out as I do not think there is a large enough change from the 996 to 997 to warrant my leasing a 997 in hopes that a 998 turbo will be ready for me at the end of another 3 year lease.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

4 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I have a lease on a 2003 996 S4 and am thinking about buying it at the end of the lease in 1 year unless the 998 is coming out in 2007 or thereabouts. Does anyone know when the 998 generation is coming out as I do not think there is a large enough change from the 996 to 997 to warrant my leasing a 997 in hopes that a 998 turbo will be ready for me at the end of another 3 year lease.

POST 2Original post

If you rely on the way Porsche has handled its business in the past we won't see a 998 until 2010 - 11. The 911 redos tend to take place about every 5 years with the TT coming into play 2 - 3 years into the model run. They also seem to throw in some new goodies about 2 - 3 years in (e.g. variocam, facelift, inc. hp etc.). The C4S is one of the best cars out there. So if your heart isn't burning for a 997 or a TT you should have many happy years in your current P-car.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

By the way, the residual would be 56K. Is this a good price? I maintain it very well and it would have about 30K miles.

POST 4Original post

Wow , low residual value for an 03 C4S...I guess 30k miles is a bit high for a 2 year old car - in Porsche land anyway. Seems like a fair price! I'd keep it until the end of the warranty and enjoy the heck out of it!
