No need to dye - just use a good UV protectant like Aerospace 303

Sorry I don't have a good answer, I've used silicone dressings before on other cars, but I would want something more permanent in this scenario.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.
10 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

This worked great on a variety of trim on my wife's 4runner and my 911.
On my car, the plastic of the bumper interior, as well as that underneath the windshield wipers is grayish in color. Is it supposed to be black? Griot's sells a dye to return faded pieces to black, but I want to make sure that black is the right color.

Dress once a month and plastic parts will look great and stay that way.

This worked great on a variety of trim on my wife's 4runner and my 911. I was skeptical until I tried it. You need multiple coats to achieve a uniform deep black. The first coat won't look good at all but after about three it they looked like new parts...

About a year to a year and a half ago, someone posted that they replaced the windshield cowl because the initial one had become faded by the sun. IIRC, the cost was only about $69. I will see if I can find that thread and post a link.
To be continued............
Ok, I found the thread! BTW the cost of the cowl was only $60.

, good to see you over here!

Tried the 303 and the other and THEY DO NOT WORK if you are as picky as I am. When it rains or you wash the car you start all over again and they don't make the parts BLACK like new anyway. If anyone wants to buy this stuff from me just send a PM and I will gladly box it up for you
I'm picky, and use it on my 99 Boxster trim to keep it looking new - here on the scuttle under the windshield
I also used it for three years on my Cooper S, under the CA sunshine every day, it still comes up like new
If Steven C wants to give it away - take it from him - it's the best product on the market
303 does not wash away at every wash and is non silicone, non greasy
Will not restore old faded plastic that was not taken care of in the first place as I assume the original poster requested. Your cars look great and I never said I would give it away
Mmmmmm yes it will.
The 99 is a daily driver in sunny California, previous owner did not look after the plastic, it went grey with UV exposure.
The 303 brings it back and keeps it there.
And you should give the 303 away to the poster as you don't like it
