Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Suggestion
The term "checking" includes all necessary subsequent work such as adjusting, readjusting, correcting and topping up, but does not include repairing, replacing and reconditioning parts or assemblies.
Leading evidence: 'Replace they' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Adjust readjusting, correcting and topping up' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I just got a couple of quotes for a 30K service in Atlanta and they came in at $1358 and $1100 (after discount coupons) at the dealerships. A local indy that was recommended quoted me $800 so I'll see if I can negotiate the dealer price at all based on the lower number and if not take it there. I tried calling the Indianapolis dealer for a reference price but Jeremy had already left for the day. The $800 number at the independent seems fair based on what's covered. One of the dealers also covered cleaning the radiators but I don't know how thorough a job it would have been.
I have read conflicting information about the '03 90k service, perhaps it can be cleared up here.
Are the plugs to be replaced 90k or should they be done at 120k?
As you can see by reading the list, most of the service is time spent looking for problems. I think of it as paying the dealer to find things they can charge you even more for. Now, if they really do all the inspections it is pretty thorough, but it it still a little like asking the dealer if they can find anything wrong with the car that they can charge you to fix. IMHO
just make sure and print out the list (available on renntech) check them off and sign/date it, then sign the logbook in the back of the manual (IMO) keep it with your records
Under the additional services, it states that for MY01 and older, spark plugs should be done every 60k or 4 years. Mine were done @58k in February of 07. So despite only have 30k on then, the 4 years have lapsed.

I just ordered plugs and tubes (and a poly-rib belt). When I get around to changing those, I'll take video. (But first I'm rebuilding brake calipers and doing some maintenance to my race car on the lift...)
If you want an unbiased second opinion to look over your car, I'd be happy to help too.
I'm a big fan of DIY 30k services since they are mostly just checking.
I plan to - I don't know how different 944 calipers are from the 996... they're two piece as opposed to mono-block. And I don't know if they have a scraper ring or a dust boot, but I imagine it'll be close enough to give people the idea.
Just finished 30k service about 10 minutes ago. $80 for pollen filter (because I picked it up at the dealer while I was getting a lug lock)...about 5 minutes to change it last week-end. $150 Oil Change at Mobile 1...while I was next door eating BBQ for lunch. Oh yeah...then I looked at a bunch of stuff on the car for cracks, oil, leaking fluids, small animals, etc.
$230.
I need to do a 30K service as well but will probably use the dealer as all my tools are still in Indiana. I do miss California and the prices I got there for some things - like $88 oil changes (at the dealer no less) and regular discounts. The dealers here seem to be in cahoots with each other as they both charge $200+ for a basic oil change
I may still decide to buy an oil pan and inexpensive filter wrench to save the extra $100 for this as I do at least have my torque wrenches with me and a basic tool set. I would however need to buy stuff to do the plugs and don't have alternative transportation readily available if anything additional should be needed.
Still waffling as I really don't want to spend $1050 on a full 30K (includes plug change) but even the indie wants $500 for just plugs & oil change and $900 for a full 30K service. At least the dealer throws in a loaner for their price and I'n need a rental going the indie route.
