Read evidence and context

Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

13 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

... but rather an air cooled 1978 converted to look like one! Sold at auction: http://www.barrett-jackson.com/Event...PE-TINA-117415 Gotta love it...

POST 2Original post

Wow... Am air cooled Porsche "acting" like a water cooled Porsche... Who'd a thunk it ?

The B-J write up mentions the lighter body of the 1978 was necessary for the stunt (at 2264 lbs for 1978 911 vs. 2910 lbs for the 996) but at the time the movie was made (2000) I'm sure it was also much cheaper to modify a 1978 to look like a 996 than to buy one.

True story. Police helicopter would never be able to keep up with a jet or "born from jets" car. Would have ruined the movie premise though. No one would believe that chopper stayed with a Viggen.

It's a brave new world.

POST 7Original post

How could they get a "fiberglass composite body" that was "all original OEM Porsche"? When did Porsche make these cars in Fiberglass?

POST 9Original post

Quotes source post: 14144930

Some say that even the jets that birthed the Viggen can't usually keep up with it!

POST 10Original post

Reminds me of the Ferrari California in ferris Bullers day out that wasn't actually a Ferrari

POST 11Original post

Or the "Miami Vice" Ferrari Daytona that was a Corvette-based replica, but with a real Daytona soundtrack dubbed in. Apparently Ferrari was not amused by this and sued the manufacturer of the replica; the replica was subsequently blown up (in an episode of the show) as part of the settlement. IMO, they should've blown up the writers and actors and left the cars alone.
