Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

4 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Has any of you longtime 996 drivers experienced this before? I'm hoping it's a common issue with an easy answer. At around 60mph and up...I hear a whistling sound around the outside of my window area, or it could be at the top of my windshield...I can't be sure. It's pretty annoying, sounds like the antenna on a car if there is one. On my 540i, there was the same sound that was caused by missing jack-points rubber pads. It's strange how that was even possible if you have no clue...The rushing air at high speeds over the exposed hole under the car somehow "whistles" (like how you blow over an open bottle) and the sound is transmitted thru' the hollow framework right up to the windshield area!

POST 2Original post

I hate to be the one to say this since I'm pretty laid back about these things, but this is the fourth thread about this issue in recent days. Just do a search on "whistle" or "whistling" in the 996 forum and you'll find a bunch of things and solutions, the quick and dirty of which is to adjust your front hood down.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks, I should have done a search first. I will do just that...

POST 4Original post

I have a whistling noise in the driverside window just above the rearview mirror...put an extra piece of rubber in the doorrubber and it is gone!
