Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I run 17s on the Turbo in the winter (and C4 & 993)......so just being '17' is not the problem........its wheel style & offset (especially offset to clear front Turbo and C4S calipers).
Leading evidence: 'Run 17s' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Recommend by the manual' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

Suggestion
Ideally, you should also get narrower 18" wheels to go with the narrower snow tires as recommended by the manual.

Suggestion
I'm now using 18" rims but had used my 17" rims with 6mm spacers in the front and 25mm spacers for the rears.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Thinking about getting a C4s in future... However for the snow tires, I would like to use my existing C2 17" wheels (boxster turbo twist wheels).
Will these fit a C4s? or will I have to get another set of wheels?
Many Thanks! Ross
Nope. Won't work. The C4S rotors are too big. You need 18" wheels to clear them. 18" C2 wheels will work, but not the 17"s. One of the posters on this board already had the unfortunate occurence when he bought 17" wheels off e-Bay. Ideally, you should also get narrower 18" wheels to go with the narrower snow tires as recommended by the manual.
I also have 18" C2 Wheels (Turbo hollow spokes)...... I can keep these and sell the car with the 17s... Would rather use 17s though. Riad, you out there?

Palting may be right on those particular wheels.......I just wanted to note that 17s across the board are NOT a problem..........I like em in the snow.....been using them on Pcars for years.
Good luck.
OK........I know wheel dimensions can be confusing.......try this.......an 8J wheel needs about 43mm (on some or many wheel styles) to easily clear those C4S front calipers.....so if your 17s are 8J you'd need a 12mm or so spacer to make em work up front.......if they are not 8J, any inch decrease in J translates to 12.7mm increase in offset & vica-versa. The rear is more cosmetic for appearance but I would also throw the 12mm spacers back there.
I can not speak for the particular wheel style you have......just that there are quita a few wheels that fit fine with the dimensions I just gave. If these have different spoke or barrel design, they may not work (but it's not just that they are 17s). As for clearing the rotors....sorry, that's something I've never encountered but Palting may know your particular wheel & have that info.
I tried searching for the thread where one poster bought 17" turbo twists on eBay, but couldn't fit them on his C4S despite spacers. Can't find it.
Anyway, you can't argue with success. If it works for Riad who has a 996 C4S cab, it should work for you.
I bought a set of 18" wheels and snow tires for my C2 but found out that they were made for the C4S. I can fit them on my car with spacers but don't want to. So, I am selling them. They are the Dunlop Wintersport M2 with less than 500 miles on them in sizes: fronts are 225/40/18, rears are 265/35/18. The rims are Mille Miglia Cup 3 that are made in italy. PM or e-mail me if you would like pictures or need the offests. Wheels are in good shape - two of them have a small scratch. I'm asking $1300. I am in NH but would be in the NYC area many times between now and the first snow fall.
