I had the rears replaced back in November and thought it was a bit odd that the rears wore before the fronts.

The rear brakes are helping to stabilize the trailer under braking, so get used heavily.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

7 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

  • Rennlist: 1 discussions

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

How many miles are you getting on your brake pads? Rotors? Has anyone had to replace the rears before the fronts???

POST 2Original post

How many miles are you getting on your brake pads? Rotors? 7-10k on pads, 15-20k on rotors.... Has anyone had to replace the rears before the fronts??? NEVER... I have a 2003...

POST 3Original post

My wife has an '04 Discovery and she just had all four pads replaced at the 30K service. I believe the brakes are identical to the Range Rover's as both vehicles weigh in the same at around 6K-lbs; both having been identically sourced by BMW during their brief, albeit costly, stewardship over Landrover.

POST 4Original post

If you replaced rears before fronts either: 1) You have a braking imbalance issue 2) You have been towing a great deal 3) Your LR dealership is taking the pi$$ and being creative I've had 1 set of rotors and 2 sets of pads all round in 55k miles on my 03 Disco SE7 At least acces for maintenance is easy on these beasts! Chris.

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I used it to tow my 996 from Dallas to LA and to tow my 996 to the track a couple of times.... I'd guess 2-3 thousand total miles of towing.

POST 6Original post

So towing your 996 would certainly contribute to more rear brake wear than 'normal'. The rear brakes are helping to stabilize the trailer under braking, so get used heavily. Did your trailer have it's own brakes? Assume your rears in need of replacement then, ahead of the fronts? Chris.

POST 7 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

The trailer has electric brakes. I had the rears replaced back in November and thought it was a bit odd that the rears wore before the fronts. I now need to have the fronts replaced and the rears are marginal.
