Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

0 original-poster resolution reports. Counts can overlap; they are not unique people or a success rate.
0 discussions have direct query context; 0 report a fix in that context. Other evidence may inherit the discussion’s subject.
Reported cause
No factory alarm or valet unlocking feature, and everyone (including me) though it was the coolest thing ever.
Outcome qualification: Negation, uncertainty or missing explicit repair resolution overrides the raw extraction signal.
Suggestion
I took it to the dealer, and they changed the entire head, and told me that it's not as simple as just changing the battery, but you need to reprogram the key.
Leading evidence: 'coolest thing ever' (1 discussions report identifying this cause; no attributable repair resolution). Across 1 matching discussions, the most frequently mentioned possible cause is 'coolest thing ever' (1 discussions; 1 report identifying it and 0 suggest it). The most frequently discussed action is 'Replace battery' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

Gents, This weekend one of my keys seem to have died, when I replaced the battery (CR-2320) the key then enabled the red light without pause.

I just replaced my key battery for a cool $3 at grocery store.

my key went dead one day...and I had to replace the key head (also had to buy a 2nd set) total price 450 bucks.....just because we are to lazy to stick the key in the lock!!

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Gents, This weekend one of my keys seem to have died, when I replaced the battery (CR-2320) the key then enabled the red light without pause. I then tried my second set of keys to no avail. Is there something else to look into ? New Batteries are not the problem, the keys are in perfect shape. Have anyone experienced this ? If so, what was the resolution ? Thanks in advance.
Actually inserting the key and starting the car should sync the key. A problem with the microswitch for the Targa Glass can also cause a problem with the fobs not locking or unlocking the car.
Deon.
Not sure you mean exactly what you typed .... but if you do, then you are mistaken.
Changing batteries in the key heads is a routine job, and the key should work with the new battery if it worked with the old.
Once a key head has been mated to a car's central computer, then that specific key should never have to be mated by the dealer again ..... no matter how many times the key is given a new battery.
As Kim said, this is NOT something the dealer has to re-program for $200! Replace battery, open door with key, start car, turn off car, get out and close door, set alarm. Should be as easy as that. I might have missed a step but the manual should outline it.
Whoa, I didnt see this in the manual, but I do experience it & wondered if it was an issue. My key remote does not work if I dont use it for a certain amount of time, but then I open the door manually & the remote will start to work again.
That would make sense, but a couple years ago, my remote stopped working. I changed the battery and then it worked for about a week. I changed it again and it worked for about two days. I took it apart and it looked like one of the solder joints on the circuit board may have cracked, so I tried soldering it. No go.

Whatever the deal is, these keys are pretty flimsy and with a lot of use, they'll be useless after a few years. It's easy to get that rubber seal that goes around the edge all jammed too.
I don't mind just getting a new key head every five years. The new one looked MUCH better than my ragged-assed one. Plus it was covered by my warranty.
I hear you can use the key head from the newer models too, which look even nicer.
Happens every time I leave my car at the airport or in my garage and go out of town for more than 5 days.
Upon return, the remote in the key appears dead. Pull the plug out of the lock, open the driver's door one time, and the remote is back in action again.
Your dealer appears to be jerking you around, or .... as is often the case .... the dealer is one of the more undependable sources of tech info. Ironic, isn't it?
It really
IS
that simple when a dead key battery is the only problem. I've done it several times ..... pry off the side of the key head, out with the old, in with the new battery, and back in the remote business. I find the job as simple and easy as changing a battery in any other electronic gear.
I have never had dealer program the car for a key .... other than when I bought a new key head due to only receiving one key with my used car.
If I recall correctly the manual says something about shutting down the ability to unlock and lock the car after 5 days with the remote. This is to save the car's battery. The little curtisey lights also go out.
my key went dead one day...and I had to replace the key head (also had to buy a 2nd set) total price 450 bucks.....just because we are to lazy to stick the key in the lock!! When I was young(er) everybody was sticking them!! had to do it for a week and felt like an idiot!!
I just replaced my key battery for a cool $3 at grocery store. The key works better than ever. I knew the battery was going dead bc the red light on the key no longer blinks. No reprogramming needed.
I'll have to check if the second key still works. I doubt if I'll have trouble.
Tip: Don't go to Radio Shack for batteries. They'll charge 2x the amt. A local walgreen, rite-aid or plain grocery store has these for cheap.
I remember on my 89 turbo, the key had a little push-button light in it. No factory alarm or valet unlocking feature, and everyone (including me) though it was the coolest thing ever. Ahhh, the good old days.
