Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Here is a "New" set from LA Porsche Dismantlers. Many of us have had bad experiences with them, however their ebay feedback is good. Another Rennlister recently purchased a PSE from them with a good experience.

No! Brandywine Porsche has one for an 02 listed for $1499.95 in the newest Excellence magazine. I'm not sure it has the electronice with it but it is listed as a kit. Last year I seen them as low as $1150 from a dealer in California.
slaaw: PSE = Porsche sport exhaust
$1600 is probly list price w electronics. If you are not wiring the electronics, buy a used set for $600. If you shop on eBay, make sure you are buying OEM sport exhaust, many there are actually fabspeed or something else. There are also 2 version of the PSE. One for 3.4 and another for both 3.4 and 3.6. The second one fits all 996 bc the fitting a slightly bigger.
Carrera Mike,
So do you want to sell the electronics if you never installed them ?
The perfectionist in me want to do the whole job... even if its rarely used.
Thanks
Can the PSE (Porsche Sports Exhaust) be installed without electronics...? Is it a DIY job..? I am thinking in ordering it from Porsche dismantler althought I had a bad experience with them before..
Many guys have posted that they do not install the electronics, because they want the PSE to always be in the "loud" mode. Most have mentioned that is a 1.5 to 2 hour job to install just the exhaust cans.
Its actually quite an easy job... well except those damn exhaust tip clamps.
I did it by just jacking up the car are lying underneath. I left the rear wheels on and it wasnt a problem.
A standard ratchet socket set can easily get to all the bolts.
The clamps require some prying to get them off... and they are much more solid than they look.
1.5hrs for both sides (well 1hr to get the hang of the job for one side, and 30min for the other)
