Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Agree that dismounting the wheels is clearly the best way - other suggestions for thorough cleaning during routine weekly (or more) wash?

I've pretty much used them all and this one, made for motorcycles, is the best brush I have ever used for cleaning hard to reach areas, even in the engine area.

On the front wheels, the clearance between the rotor and the interior rim of the wheel is really narrow - I can't get my mitt under the rotor to clean the interior of the rim.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

First off, I'm a detail nut. I have an '04 C4S with stock 18's on my car. On the front wheels, the clearance between the rotor and the interior rim of the wheel is really narrow - I can't get my mitt under the rotor to clean the interior of the rim. Rears are easier to reach. Other than crawling underneath and cleaning from the inside, anyone have any tips for interior rim cleaning? Thanks!
Phil
Says it all right there. Jack up the car from the rear jack point until both front and rear tires are off the floor on that side. Take the wheels off and clean everything. Wax the wheels in and out, and the red calipers and the small drum as well, makes it stay clean and easier to clean again. You can clean and wax the wheel holes and lug bolts, too. Get a quality silicone anti-seize and apply to the bolt threads. Switch sides and repeat.
I change between track and street wheels frequntly duing DE season, so this is my routine when I switch between wheels. Have fun!!!!
Palting and Dell,
Agree that dismounting the wheels is clearly the best way - other suggestions for thorough cleaning during routine weekly (or more) wash?
I think the wheel brush (bottle brush style) concept is the way to go to get in there for the quick non-fanatic wash, however, I also don't think it will be as clean as removing the wheel.
(big help, huh?)
Now then, Rejex works very well to help keep the brake dust and other stuff from sticking to almost anything. If I were fanatical (or just wanted to do a super-duper job) I would clean & Rejex the wheels and calipers every time the wheels are off.
I use this brush for weekly cleanings:

and remove the wheels in the Spring and in the Fall for deep cleaning/waxing.
This brush is better.....

Phil, companies like Maguires, Mothers, etc. make great products that you simply spray on and hose off. Simple Green is also a great product for cleaning wheels. I agree with Palting about waxing the wheels as it really helps keep brake dust down.
Steve
I would not recommend Simple Green as they seem to be having issues with the product effecting some certain types of metals, I believe alloys and aluminum.
Just a word fo caution.
Anthony
Anthony, agree that Simple Green can be strong on alloys and aluminum - will definitely take off any wax, and if not rinsed thoroughly, will stain. I use P21S on my wheels - great stuff.
Phil
For cleaning without taking the wheels off I wash all 4 wheels except whats hiding behind the caliper. Then roll car forward half a turn get the rest.
Holy crap, you guys are nuts... do you also have to go back into a room 5 times to make sure you turned the light switch off?
Maybe some day I'll have that kind of time... right now I'm lucky if I have time to throw a bucket of water on the car. It's easier when it rains, takes the pressure off.
