Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

22 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Well - I'm in the process of selling my 2000 arctic silver C4 coupe less than a year after i bought it. 1) I find the color B O R I N G 2) I hate the non-updated PCM system 3) I'm putting on approx 25k km a year, and this car now has 63k. Time to sell if I want decent money 4) I want a cab So while my car is put up for sale, the big "what now" is lingering in my head. I want a low milage car with the right colors and options, so I can take it from 20k km to 200k km through the next many years and still be happy. That means a 03-04 model (02 has the facelift, but the old PCM) with low milage. Thats a no brainer. Cab is easy too. But I'm so very uncertain about the color. I find speed yellow a fantastic color. But it might be too flashy. I would love to hear from other SY owners or former owners how they feel about it. I like positive attention, but not negative. I even found the car - a 2004 C4 cab with 20k km for a decent (european) price of 75k euro. Remember we pay approx 30-50% extra for our cars than in the US. Pic: On the other hand I find one of the greatest color combos to be a blue car with beige leather interior. Its absolutely gorgeous, but hard to find (almost as hard as a speed yellow cab). Wife thinks I'm nuts buying a yellow car, but I do really like it. Blue/beige is fantastic too but somewhat anonymous from the outside but wow on the inside. So I turn to you - the fantastic rennlist crowd - to give me a few pro/cons. Maybe that will help me decide or clarify what to pick

POST 2Original post

i still like arctic silve. in fact, my current 3 cars are all silver!!! go for a cab. u won't regret, no matter what color you pick

POST 4Original post

i have a silver cab, my cousin two blocks away has a speed yellow cab...he gets all the attention. whether u want that is up to you.

POST 5Original post

The SY,is nice, but I like Midnight Blue the best, which is what I was looking for initially. I ended up buying a used (6,450 miles on the clock) '04 C2 in Lapis Blue with Graphite Grey leather seats. The Lapis is very nice and it was optioned almost exactly to my preference so the small difference between Midnight and Lapis was an easy compromise for me.

POST 6Original post

Just last month, I narrowed it down to two cars: an 02 SY/blk or an 03 Lapis blue/beige C4S. As you can see, I went with the blue and no regrets. Been receiving more compliments on the color combo than I expected.

POST 7 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks everyone No regrets? I mean - there is a huge difference in the looks of the SY and blue car. What made you pick the blue over the SY?

POST 8Original post

I'd like Atlas Grey, it's got a bluish tint to it. With a black interior, deviating stitch, partial CF or AS interior, it looks special and classy. SY doesn't do much for me. I think I'd only ever own a yellow Lambo or maybe F355. If you like to look in style, I'd go for a 01 or 02 996TT or a newer C4S. Wide body always get the looks.

POST 9Original post

All are great but I love the Carrera White. You do not see a lot, at least around here. I do like Silver but like you said, they are everywhere. Color is such a personal choice. I can say that my White sure hides any dirt, where as my Black Boxster was dirty 5 minutes after you washed it, in addition, scratches are harder to notice on lighter cars. Good luck!

POST 10Original post

IMHO, I thought the SY was too "in your face", whereas the LB is understated elegance. The fact that the LB car is a 4S was also a contributing factor.

POST 11Original post

Speed Yellow? I thought the Swedes were a little more understated! Go with the yellow - if you get anything else, you'll always wonder what would have happened if you'd gotten the yellow. It's the same reason I stretched for my C4S - had I bought anything else, any other model, I would have groaned every time I saw a C4S. Plus, a yellow car should be easier to find in the snow!

POST 12Original post

I had black and silver cars in the past and was ready for a change so I went for SY. It was a bit of a leap of faith - I wasn't sure if I would get sick of it after 6 weeks but one year later I still love it. The car has sports seats with yellow backs and a yellow center console that really ties it all together. It certainly gets attention but it's been all positive.

POST 13Original post

I had a yellow M3 that I just had to have. It wore on me quickly. While fun on the weekends, it got tired as a daily driver. If you need to take out clients, etc., it's kinda hard to be taken seriously. I have a Midnight Blue/Savanne Beige Targa, and love the color combo still after 2 1/2 years. If I would change anything, it would be the interior...to something darker like natural brown or cinnamon brown. -- M

POST 14Original post

When we were shopping dealers for our 2002, Circle in Long Beach had a new speed yellow turbo with black interior - the car had been ordered with yellow seat belts, yellow rear console and yellow stitching. Porsche forgot to do the stitching so the guy refused to accept it, but geez, gorgeous car!

POST 15Original post

I have done the Yellow, and blue was just as hard to keep clean as my blacks, so I went Silver, not my favorite color but easy resale and it always looks clean, I ordered my 997 TT is white , again easy to keep clean. I think you should go to a dealer that has allot of cars in stock and go with the one that speaks to you the most and Silver is not " B O R E I N G". its just not for you. I can tell you this yellow wore out on me, and I used to get" Nice color is it your wifes? Not a comment to other rennlist members just what i used to hear.

POST 17Original post

I love my white 996, it's SO hard to tell if it's dirty (which it never is)

POST 18Original post

I was a little skeptical about buying a SY Porsche. But I love the color and have NO regrets. I originally wanted the silver/black combo but again the yellow is awesome.

POST 19Original post

Wow..... I respect anyone one who can give you the right advice on this one!! You just need to own a few I believe, like Jerry Seinfeld who owns over 40!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

POST 20Original post

I love my Lapis Blue Metallic but am ready for a change myself. To me, silver is boring also. I'm considering a new coupe order this summer. My lastest choice is: Carrera White with Terracotta leather. Anyone here with Terracotta? If so, how do you like it? I'm sure you will be happy with whichever color combo you choose. -Jay

POST 21Original post

cold dude, You actually want the MOST system that started in '03? Are you sure you know what you are getting yourself into? I mean, if you want a new car, blah blah blah, whatever get one, but actively seeking the most and counting that as a "quality" suggests that you may not have considered the possibilities of aftermarket upgrades that you could do with an '02. TD

POST 22 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I would rather take the MOST system and get a PCM that actually works (the navi at least), than be stuck with a PCM navi that isnt updated anymore. But thats how I see it - I'm not into aftermarket sound and navi systems.
