So, would the Eibach springs be worth going with using my regular shock's?

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

12 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

  • Rennlist: 1 discussions

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I am getting new tires this week and have about $400-$500 extra to blow on the car and am debating on getting the h&r sport springs. I am thinking of this to lower the car slightly, and get a little better handling on DE's. I usually take the car on the track about once a month. Do you guys think that this is a good upgrade? And let's stay away from the coilover upgrades only because while I would love to have them, I don't have a couple of thousand dollars at the moment to dump into the car. I would just like to see if this will help the car a little bit on the track? Thanks, Oscar Akron, Ohio

POST 2Original post

Spring change without proper shocks will mess up handling more than help. Save up and get proper combo setup.

POST 3Original post

$4-500 wont cover the new alignment you will need. however.... I ran eibach springs on US stock shocks and had a fair amount of success. My alignment guy was even surprised as he said the "norm" is to end up with re-bound and a worse set up... what type of tires did you get what type of alignment those would be worth more in the end... and are known "good" mods

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I am getting Kumho XS tires. I have them on my 928 and really like them. I have Sumitomo III's and although they are a really good tire for every day, they suck on the track. Thought since I have some extra cash that the wife said I can blow on myself I'd get a couple of things. So, would the Eibach springs be worth going with using my regular shock's? And, what type. See I only want a little better performance. Car seems to sit a little high and rolls when going into corners. I thought that if I can get some springs it could help a little until I do the complete suspension in the next couple of years. Although with the prices of the Turbo's I might just end up selling my car and buying a turbo in the spring. Thanks, Oscar

POST 5Original post

I have stock springs and shocks. Get a set of nittos for the track and spend the 400 on a spare set of wheels that's what I did and the handling is amazing. I actually need to dial in some negative camber with the nittos since the stock setup isn't heating the inside of the tire as much.

+1 Save the money for some track wheels and tires that you will eventually want/need. Or spend the money on another DE. I promise you that you can find more performance within yourself than you could ever hope to get from different springs.

POST 7Original post

lets say you do the springs... i would like to lower mine a bit.. but i want improved performance... is there a shock that will match the HR springs?

POST 8Original post

Quotes source post: 7706550

yes, you can buy the springs and the shocks as a match set.

POST 9Original post

Or just select the spring package you want and send your dampers off to be revalved to match. Not more than about 75-100 a corner.

POST 10Original post

I have H&R springs and stock struts...no issues, lowered center of gravity and car handles better than is did on the US-spec 4x4 springs.

Consider the H&R rear sway bar. I just installed one and it dramatically reduced body roll and even provides some oversteer, which I sorely missed. Only $233 shipped and 45 mintues to install from start to finish...piece of cake and results one can feel immediately.

Please describe your fair amount of success. What it worth just going to the Eibachs or did you regret not changing the dampers too? I'm considering this because I don't want to spend any more money than I need to right now. Did it handle better in your opinion? Any old pics with those?
