I was just reading a thread over in the GT3 forum and they're talking about how their ECU's are progressive and the harder you drive, the most power you can get from them (for a difference of upto 10-15HP orso). Do Carrera and other 996's have a similar type of ECU?

You can have your dealer put a European country code in the ecu. I think 00 is Germany and 02 is U.S.A. it changes a few settings.

hmm.i'm guessing the germany code is the more "performance" of the two? what do they charge for this?

interesting.... I know the MY99 carreras run motronic 5.2 vs the 00 which run motronic 7.x... motronic 5.2 is the adaptive engine management system.... this is why when you flash a 99 with GIAC you'll get slightly more HP and TQ than a 3.4 '00 and beyond... does anybody know if the GT3 run motronic 5.2... apparently 5.2 left more on the table for "tuning" capacity.
