Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

13 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

  • Rennlist: 1 discussions

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

1 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

So I was driving home the other day. All of sudden my check engine light popped on. I just got my car a week ago and this happened. So Naturally I was really worried. Took it to porche the next morning. They ran the code. It was the mas flow air sensor. No big deal to my relief. What I thought was funny is that porche want 800 to fix it. I knew it would only take me 10 min to swap out so I elected to save some money and do it myself. Problem fixed. Now I think I'll go out and buy me an intake with the money I saved. Just thought I'd share that experience with everyone. Ryan King www.webuyvegas123.com

POST 2Original post

Holy crap, they wanted $800 to fix the air sensor? I think you should buy an ODBII computer with the money you saved so you can diagnose your own problems if you're mechanically inclined. Good job! Rob

POST 3Original post

Had mine replaced under warranty about 6 months ago and they said it would have cost me about $800 had I had to pay for it. Gotta love that Porsche Warranty! Saved me some cash. Where did you buy your new MAF sensor from?

POST 4Original post

Alot of the time you can clean them and fix the problem for $0

POST 5Original post

... Now I think I'll go out and buy me an intake with the money I saved. Just thought I'd share that experience with everyone. Ryan... Its good you did it by yourself. Its a piece of cake to do, but cleaning it occassionally with electronics parts cleaner (the OK for plastic kind) helps as well. A good place to pick one of these up is at: http://www.advancebmwparts.com I think the correct Bosch replacement part number is Air Mass Meter B3130-70627 and it runs about 280.00 to 300.00. My local Porsche Stealership wanted $700.00 about a year ago to replace it the MAF. Big rip!!!

POST 6Original post

Yep...not the first time I have heard that. Funny because that MAF sensor is a standard Bosch unit. Fookin stealers **** me off... C.

POST 7Original post

How EASY is this job? Is there a DIY anywhere? I would love to do it, but frankly, my mechanical skills are zero to none.

POST 8Original post

Extremely easy. You just need a security torx to remove it. These threads should have what you are looking for: https://rennlist.com/forums/showthre...=security+torx https://rennlist.com/forums/showthre...=security+torx

POST 10Original post

Its even easier when you take the air box off and remove MAF while the box is on a bench or table. That way you can dust out the air box and blow out or replace the air filter at the same time.

POST 13 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hey thanks for the input. I'll keep the old mas flow air sensor just in case.
