I was having problems with my MAF sensor (PSM and ABS lights would go on over 5K RPM) so I removed it and cleaned with electronice cleaner as recommended on this board.
Leading evidence: 'Clean with electronice cleaner as' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Clean with electronice cleaner as' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. The cel can also be turned off by disconnecting the battery for 15 minutes or so and then reconnecting, but I dont recommend this method.

Unfortunately, after doing so my CEL light is now on so I have ordered a new MAF sensor which I will replace when it arrives.

You can also go to autozone where they will read and reset the codes for you for free.
These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi,
I was having problems with my MAF sensor (PSM and ABS lights would go on over 5K RPM) so I removed it and cleaned with electronice cleaner as recommended on this board. Unfortunately, after doing so my CEL light is now on so I have ordered a new MAF sensor which I will replace when it arrives.
My question is this, assuming the MAF sensor is the problem, will the CEL light go off when the sensor is replaced or do I need to have the light switched off somehow? Also, if I do not to get it turned off, can I do this myself somehow or do I need to go to the dealer?
Thanks for any info any of you can provide. Since I bought my car 6 months ago (and prior to purchase) this board has been very helpful.
the cel must be turned off using one of the obdII tools. this tool reads and resets the codes for you. I personally dont have one, but many others on this board do and can recommend one. You can also go to autozone where they will read and reset the codes for you for free. they will tell you the codes that tripped your cel in the first place (maybe its not you MAF). The cel can also be turned off by disconnecting the battery for 15 minutes or so and then reconnecting, but I dont recommend this method. congratulations on your purchase!
Peter
I would suggest you first get the codes before you start implementing solutions. The way you describe the lights coming on does not sound typical to MAF failure (once PSM and ABS lights go on they're on...often leading to a CEL).
The CEL will need to be cleared as described by Pete. Get the OBDII tool like:
http://www.pocketlogger.com/?pid=help
or others...do a SEARCH.
I got a CEL for about 50 miles after (i think) the gas cap was not tight.
I was going to go back to the shop to have it re-set, but it just re-set itself ???
Is this normal ?
Are you sure that the PSM and ABS lights are associated with a MAF problem and not a problem with PSM and/or ABS? Aren't typically MAF problems indicated by a CEL light (and not some combination of PSM and ABS lights)?. It would seem prudent to have a Porsche specific tech with the PST2 to look into this vs. Autozone or someone with an OBDII reader. PSM and ABS lights could mean a serious safety issue.
However, with regard to your CEL question. Some of the fault codes that cause a CEL will allow the CEL to go off on its own. Some codes are considered low priority and will only cause the CEL to light and then will turn off after the codes are not being thrown anymore. The gas cap is one there are others.
