Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I'd not want to wait on the original to be repaired a sent back, but then that wasn't even a choice.

The bad component has been replaced so you have a tranny with less miles on it.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

it's nice to have replaced when you don't have to pay for it.. luckily i didn't, as the porsche dealer screwed up when installing the replacement engine.. $8700 bill.. ouch
I wouldn't want one. It's better to have a car that has never been touched. Check the bolt heads on the engine and tranny. If it's been worked on there will be evidence. Keep looking. Make sure you get one with no leaks and hasn't had major surgery.
I called 1 800 porsche. They had some info, but not much. Dealers have more info on a different computer network. It doesn't have to be the dealer the car was serviced at, they all seem to have access to the same info.
Anyone else think this is a big issue. The recall was in 2003 on manual transmissions. I imagine there were many cars recalled. The records show no transmission work since.
Thanks,
Skipp
Theres no reason to avoid it. Refusing a car thats had the tranny replaced is just plain silly. Transmission R&R on these cars isnt major surgery, its like 10 nuts and bolts. A 20 minute job for someone inclined. The new transmission has the same warranty as the rest of the car. Just because its been touched doesnt make it a lemon. If its the car you want, optioned as you want, go for it.
My 02C2 had to get a new Tip. The techs at the dealership found something wrong that I had not even noticed. He showed me the new transmission ($11,000). I was REAL glad I didn't have to pay for it!! He told me that they were shipping it back to Mercedes and they would tear it down to see what was causing the problem. I'd not want to wait on the original to be repaired a sent back, but then that wasn't even a choice. I was happy with a new one supplied by Porsche.
