i've had the same issues with my '99 C4....i know there was service bulletin for mine...had the buckles replaced and still hasn't resolved the issue...

I just completed a few modes done at one time (dash spoiler switch, heated seats, fan switches). At the same time I installed a new steering Wheel and air bag. When I put everything back together the airbag light on the dash was on. I have tried removing and reinstalling the airbag, the wheel and air bag, and even reinstalled the old airbag. Still have the light on. Any suggestions, or is it off to the dealer for me?

Disconnect the bat wait a while and reconnect. Also, I've heard to make sure the ground is good on the seat belt mounting.

Disconnecting the battery will not reset the air bag light. You will need a PST2 or PIWIS tester to reset the light.

where do you plug in the tester? I have the same issue and my buddy has one of those for his bimmer. Yah think it'll work?

Mine was the passenger seatbelt , I had the seat belt assembly replaced and the light stayed off

The Bimmer tool is not a Porsche System Tester tool. You need to go to the dealer or an indep shop that has the resources to own one in order to turn it off. Disconnecting the battery will not do it.

The belt buckles aren't the only issue with the 996 airbag light woes. There is also updated wiring, connectors and pins as well as rerouted grounds and possibly if you have an old one, a new triggering unit.
