Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I used a six point harness for the same concern as where to mount the five point sub-belt.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Is there a set of instructions for installing 5 point harnesses in the 996? Such as the best mouning locations for the lap and sub belts, hardware required outside of the actual harness bar etc. I did some searching but couldn't find anything specific...

POST 2Original post

The best info I have found is on the Schroth web site HERE. . I got the Hybrid II for the passenger seat and Hybrid II HANS for my seat....

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks Chris. Good read. I was looking for something more specific to the 996. Such as exact locations in the car where the mounts for the sub and lap belts would go, as well as what hardware is required...

POST 4Original post

Eli, what I got was the DAS Sport bolt-in bar, GT3 seats and the Schroth Hybrids. Based on the Schroth info I installed them myself, measuring the angles and the lengths as Schroth specifies. The only trick was to find a good mounting point for the sub belts, and there I got a bar from one of the instructors in our club who changed to different seats. There are a few alternative bars. If you use the Techquipment bar or one of the other bars the angles and the lengths are still the same--you just mount the bar differently. Hope this helps.

POST 5Original post

I used a six point harness for the same concern as where to mount the five point sub-belt. With the six point harness, the two straps for the sub-belt mount to the two front bolts that hold the seat rails to the frame. Works great, no fabrication, etc. If the car is a some what daily driver, go with snap in mounting hooks. I can install or uninstall the belts in about 10mins. If I am takeing out the bar add another 20mins. The lap belts mount at the same points as the stock lap belts. I mounted my shoulder belts to the B&K bar I used. Be careful on this mounting point. The bar must be designed to be used as a mounting point. The other style of bar is a guide bar. The bar "guides" the shoulder belts from the rear seat belt mounting points. Not a hard DIY.

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks guys! The biggest problem for me was finding the mounts for the sub belts. I'll try the seat rail bolts approach.

POST 7Original post

Eli, If you have manual seats, Porsche Motorsports makes a cross bracket that works great for a sub-strap. It also moves as the seat moves which helps. Of course the right way to mount your belts is to put eye-bolts through the floor with large backing plates. Not real street car friendly but much safer. Jim
