One went so far as to make a deal at list and, after taking my credit card deposit, called back and wanted an extra $1000 plus $500 to run the trade-in of my cab through his books (Morristown BMW).

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Well, I just sold my '04 C4S cab (midnight blue/grey) and bought the new M5. I had such fond memories of my previouos M5 ('00 black/black) and I was getting tired of squeezing my two little boys in the back (I'm 6'2"). I also miss the small goodies like satelite radio, MP3 compatibility etc. which the other cars have. Since this was Porsche number 8, I have no doubt that there will be a number 9 in my future! This board has been terrific, and I wish you well.
i hope you enjoy the new car, mate!
post a review of it and some pics, i'm sure some of us were considering getting M5's too (i know i was).
How's the markup on them? Did u snag one at MSRP?
I will have to say goobye too. I just traded my wonderful '02 coupe in for a new 545 Sport. Same reasons, kids getting too big for back seat. This was P-car #2, and there will be a #3 in a few years, that is if the new M5 doesn't grab me in two years when prices stabilize a bit. I had an M5 back in 1989, loved it. Best to all and thanks for all your advice.
Brad.
Nice to hear you guys approve--we obviously have a lot in common.
Riad: the M6 will get here sometime in Q3 of '06.
Dead-eye and evo: I had to make a bunch of calls to locate about 7 or 8 availble cars within 50 miles of here (NJ/NYC). The markups on Ebay and California are a joke (5K-20K!). Only two dealers ("stealers") wanted extra. One went so far as to make a deal at list and, after taking my credit card deposit, called back and wanted an extra $1000 plus $500 to run the trade-in of my cab through his books (Morristown BMW). I basically told him to shove it, and found a car at MSRP 50 miles away at a dealership in PA.
Very nice... The mark-up in California is ridiculous, glad to hear you got the car at list. What color combo did you end up going with? I saw pics of a black m5 with that silverstone II interior... H-O-T
I'm not a big fan of the E60, despite 6 previous BMWs (at least the M model has a temp gauge; the lesser models have less engine instrumentation than your average family mini-van--kind of embarassing for a "driver's car").
Nonetheless, I think I'd be in the same boat if I needed an all round car to seat four--there's probably nothing better right now than the M5. The M6, on the other hand is WAY too heavy for a 2 + 2, despite BMW's attempts to lighten it over the base 6. The 6 cab, by the way, weighs in more than 100 lbs. heavier than a four door Cadillac DTS, and 1000 lbs. heavier than a 997 cab.. Kind of ridiculous. Although the engine is potent, the electronic gizmos can't hide the obesity of the thing in the corners--it really feels heavy if one is used to a sportier car.
Very cool, I loved the M5 review on Top Gear.
Seems like a lot of people are moving on. I am making arrangements for the arrival of my RS4. Thinking of just the pcar go, as I won't use it that much during the winter.
I was in Italy a month ago and saw an M6. Its sounded amazing though the guy driving it, didn't do much for the brand....
