Remember to change the brake fluid before the event(if it hasn't been done recently) and you should be good to go with stock equip.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

8 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

What are you guys using for rotors. Stock set up? Thanks

POST 2Original post

I've tracked 996s over the years and although I do not have extensive DE time in 996s, the OEM rotors seemed to hold up very well for me. Keep in mind I am talking about OEM rotors with OEM pads. Of course, if you are running more aggressive track pads with OEM rotors, then OEM rotor wear will increase. Remember to change the brake fluid before the event(if it hasn't been done recently) and you should be good to go with stock equip.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Yes I'll use track compounds . looking for slotted not drilled.

POST 4Original post

OEM for me. I do have track pads and yep they wear the rotors faster. Others use the slotted type. I replaced my rotors about 3 years ago and I am due for new again.

POST 5Original post

Sorry, I can't help you there as I have never used track compounds on a 996. Ask this question over in the Racing section...there are a lot of Spec 996 racers over there that I'm sure can help.

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Yep, I will try there. Thanks.

POST 7Original post

Stock rotors or OEM replacements should be fine, they just will wear faster with aggressive pad compounds. Two piece floating rotors (Brembo, Performance Friction, Girodisk etc) would be the next step up, but they are pricey!

POST 8Original post

Cool Carbon pads w/ Zimmerman rotors stopped very well, but the noise (when the brakes were cold) got to be unbearable.
