Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

You have a really nice ride...in looking at your first photo, it appears that your front and back tires may have been swapped by mistake.
Leading evidence: 'Replace by mistake' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Replace by mistake' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

That's about the best I can say about the set I had.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

As this is primarily the forum Ive been reading since joining this forum, thought I would say hi to all of you here and also say thank you, thanks for the information in here, so far i've been doing a lot of reading and have found out some fascinating things about my 2003 996 Carrera.
Anyway, hi from south East Florida inserted here is a few pics of my 2003 996 with 40k on the clock, I've had it for about 1 month now.
Looks great, those are my favorite rims on the 996. You can learn a lot here, I definitely have. Learn what you can, share what you know.
Congrats again,
DS
@Hurdigurdiman it is a C2, yes it runs absolutely great.
@MiamiC70 I'm in Coral Springs (Just west of Ft Lauderdale)
So far I'm loving the car. Have a little oil leak (nothing to exciting, a drop every few days type of leak) but that's about it. Otherwise the car is in great condition. The last owner hardly drove it.
Welcome. If you really want to love it, get some PSS9s or PSS10s on and lose the 4WD ride height. The single, hugest improvement I've made on mine. Wish I'd done it as soon as I got it, instead of waiting. Literally transforms the car. I also wish I'd ditched the Sumi tires sooner and had put on the PS2s I finally coughed up for. Awesome tire. Your rear tire looks a little stretched on the rim, like my Sumi used to. What are they?
Nice! Great looking, enjoy the miles and smiles (can we say Fister D time?) best mod ever, for only a few bucks.......you'll never look back and the sound....oh so sweet! GL and enjoy the new baby.
@perryinva - they are Sumi tires. (Are they that bad?) These are the ones i got it with.
@Country911 - I need to read up on that mod. I'm assuming it is an exhaust mod ? Is there a write up here?
Ian
Sumis are round, black, hold air, wear well and cheap. Especially the IIs. That's about the best I can say about the set I had. Bad? Can't say bad, to be honest, but they flat spot, suck in the rain, are noisy and not particularly good handling tires, IMHO. And all mine lost air far faster than any other tire I've owned. They seem to be OK when new, but age fast and lose performance. The IIIs get better reviews when new, so I can't say much about them except that people that switched from them to better tires, don't regret it, so they may not age well either. I tossed mine with plenty of tread left on all 4, and do not regret it one bit. If you look at your rear wheel, you will notice that the actual rim sticks out farther than the tire, just begging for a rim rash, and the tire looks small in circumference, making the space around the tire in the wheel well look larger. Seems like they just give you less tire to save money, so while they are supposed to be the right size, they are actually stretched to fit in width, and a smaller circumference.. My PSM would activate in a heartbeat when the car was challenged in the twisties, or with any wet on the road at all, but I have to work at it to get the PSM to light even for a brief second with the PS2s. The Michelin PS2 is easily near 20mm wider in the rear, and about 10mm wider in front, actual contact patch, & width, and noticeably larger circumference, for the exact same size tire. True, they cost twice as much (Costco has the best price), and wear faster, but then I'd go Michelin Super Sports (have to go 285/35 rear) for around a grand all around, rather then spend $600 on the Sumis, if you don't care about the N rating. I wanted to try a set of N stamped tires, and do not regret it for my circumstances. (3-4k miles a year). The performance, ride, noise, handling differences are really just incredible, really no comparison, if you can seriously feel the performance handling of the tire, of the car. In Florida, you sure don't need all season tires, so that helps. But if it's a daily driver and you do 25-30k miles a year, I can see where the expense would take it's toll on you. There are tons of advice and opinions about tires here, but it boils down to what you want the car to do for you, and how much, is too much.
Nice car. I had those rims on mine but scuffed them and ended up replacing them. Sometimes miss them.
If you update or make changes, can you post PICs? Those are fun to look at.

Welcome to the forum! You have a really nice ride...in looking at your first photo, it appears that your front and back tires may have been swapped by mistake. Check to make sure that the first 3 numbers are bigger on the back and not the front (i.e. 295x30x18 back; 225x35x18 front)
Ian where is your oil leak from? Yes they are common on Porsche flat-6 motors, but you do need to know where it's from. The one to worry about is from the rear seal. Most others are ok and easy fixes, just a nuisance.
