Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

3 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

2004 996 3.6 Tiptronic, everything is standard fitment. I get an annoying clunk from the rear. It happens when going from reverse to drive, coming to an abrubt stop, going over a pot hole. i've had a good rummage around the back, removed the motor mounts and they were still firm ish, the only bit of slight play I could find was on the rear coffin arm, the bush in the middle had a slight play in it. But this doesnt explain the knock at a standstill going from reverse to drive?

POST 2Original post

I just replaced my broken transmission mount (03 Tiptronic). It was causing a grinding noice in the half shaft on left turns. I also had clunking. Both are gone with the new mount. Might be a good idea to inspect that mount, it is very easy to see the bushing on both sides of it and if they are broken.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hmm will take a deeper look at it. It didn't look like a straight forward thing to replace either.
