Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

118000 miles on original pump, caught first sign of noise in garage, shut down and investigated. Coolant level low, checked bottom of water pump and had a drop of coolant on it. Pulled belt off spun and tugged for play on pulley sure enough was starting to go bad. Sourced a new pump and gasket from a dealer in FLA for 315.00. 2 days later installed, topped off, burped and back in the game. Pretty easy DIY.

POST 2Original post

you are lucky enough that you caught the noise in the garage bro!! $315 seems a very good price for the pump and gasket. so your new pump comes with metal or plastic blades?

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Very lucky! Porsche factory pump and came with plastic blades.

POST 4Original post

Still new to these cars. Is there a metal blade one? Is there better pumps then the factory Porsche ones?

POST 5Original post

You can get pumps with metal impellars but most will advise to stay away from them. When the bearing starts to wear you run the risk of damaging the engine block. There are many aftermarket water pumps that are cheaper but I have learned first hand they are inferior to the porsche pump. I had a laso pump last me around 3000km. Put in the porsche pump this time around and time will tell how it holds up.

POST 6Original post

Confucius say: If you replace them every 10 years or so, the difference in price between an OEM one and a cheap one is insignificant.

POST 7Original post

^ excatly. I got the factor pump last year from Sunset for $233 + shipping. Quite reasonable IMO.
