I got my spark plug tubes and motor mounts this week and had them installed the same night.

Car is still on Jackstands, since the driver's side coil packs were in bad shape, many cracks, some quite big, had to order 3 new ones from Pelican.....the passenger side coil packs where in perfect shape, not even hairline cracks, I wonder if they were replaced by PO, but they look original......strange.....
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I struggled with the 2 sparkplugs toward the front of the engine (closest to the rear of the car).....for me, it was just impossible to do this work with the mufflers installed......I highly recommend removing them......another important tool is a "swivel joint"........I just do not see how the job can be done without it....
Thanks Pelican.....Just did the motor mounts.....40 minutes flat.......wished the sparkplugs were that easy......
I am waiting for the coil packs from Pelican Parts to wrap up the maintenance, and move onto the mods and spa !!
Looks a lot like my weekend. Just picked up my new to me 2001 and I am going through the list of chores. So far I got done this weekend:
109000 miles
Cleaned throttle body
Changed serpentine belt
Cleaned condenser and radiators
Oil, filter
Changed spark plugs
Cabin air filter
Intake air filter
O2 sensors(downstream)
Left and right side markers
Hood gas shock
Left to do:
Bank 2 sparkplug tubes
Brakes front
Brakes rear
Console paint
Shifter **** and boot
Brake handle
Brake flush
Replace headlight bulbs
Motor mounts
Windshield wipers
Remote key replace
I found while doing the plugs that I have leaking spark plug tubes on the second bank so I got them ordered up today and ready to go in when they arrive.
I think that Pelican has a direct tap to my charge card the way that I've been ordering.
I must say.......what a difference......I could not imagine new motor mounts could make the car shift better, it shifts really easy and smooth now.
The new sparkplugs and replacement of the driver side coil packs also made a substantial difference as well.........WOW !!
I really do think that we are on the same page. I got my spark plug tubes and motor mounts this week and had them installed the same night.
I am getting very good at the spark plugs. No need to remove the mufflers, just know how to get at them and have the right tools when you go under the car. Coils off and tubes replaced in under an hour.
The motor mounts were a little different story. One of them was so bad (I think it was original) that is started spinning in the mount body after it got loose. Installation was a breeze once I got the bad one out. The results were amazing. I have a completely different car.
I bet replacing the motor mounts did the most for ride quality and shifting!
There should be a warning sticker in the engine bay demanding new owners replace the mounts ASAP!
Depending on age and mileage of your current gear oil, changing it makes even more wonderful shifting. Whilst down there check your transmission mount. They are known to perish over time. You might want to go semi solid if replacing.

Nice, right ?!....After reading so many stories about the Poorboy's blackhole glaze, I decided to give it a try.......I am impressed with that stuff......
