Some wheels can go out-of-round too, so ask if the guy is going to check/repair that or is only going to do cosmetic work.

My local dealer recommended a wheel refinishing service and I used it a few years ago.

Wheel Collision in PA did a set for me that came out great, they recently did a set of Audi S4 wheels for one of the guys who works for me with great results as well.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Anyone have their rims repaired and repainted?
After 8 years I have a few too many nicks and scratches on my Turbo Twist wheels, I know they can be painted but wanted to see if anyone had any feedback.
Thanks,
Rob
Riad,
I have had factory wheels refinished with excellent results, Probably looking at 100-150 per wheel to refinish.

I just had my wheels refinished from a gentleman in Salisbury Mills right near you, I will get the name of the company. He did a great job though and he can finish them in paint or powdercoat whichever you choose, and he matches the factory colors. He refinishes Porsche wheels for Tom over at Advance in New Windsor.
I had purchased a set of BBS Sport Design wheels. Rears had severe curb rash. I took into Spec Wheels here in Denver and they refinished to like new condition. I was completely amazed at the results. Cost me $175 / wheel to refinish (they are two piece) but well worth it.
I like your animated gif avatar. I have some ideas now...
there called wheels...c'mon man. i repaired my 993 wheels years ago and if you search "wheel curb rash repair photos" you'll find it...easy to do with the tires on the wheels.
I had the 18" Sport Designs chromed and painted on my 928 S4. The cost was very reasonable and got plenty of compliments
The work was done at Wheel Dynamics in Monterey Park California.
My local dealer recommended a wheel refinishing service and I used it a few years ago. It was a mobile service - they did it right at my house. They guy showed up with a big trailer. Inside, he had various equipment to grind and polish the wheels, as well as a downdraft painting system. He repaired, repainted and clear coated my wheels for $50 each. It was easy because I had them off for the winter. They don't look 100% new, but pretty damn close. It was $200 well spent.
That's what I'd love to find for my Volvo. Two of my summer rims are kind of gnarly looking up close thanks to incidents with potholes last year. I reached out to a local rim repair shop in CT last year and they quoted me $250/wheel over the phone.
They're not intricate wheels at all (they're straight forward 5 spokes) so I can't imagine they'd be that difficult to paint.

Correct paper and polish grits, correct buffer pads and speeds, right clear coat enamels and such? Yah have a shop do it.
Rebalancing the wheels and alignment would work good afterwards.
Riad,
For what it's worth, since I've been separately researching this I figured I'd share some new information that I found recently.
I found a couple of (non-Rennlist) forum recommendations for a company called Alloy Wheel Repair Specialists (
http://www.awrswheelrepair.com
) so I decided to check them out more closely. A few of the people talking about AWRS were in the NY metro area and recommended a guy out of Westchester named Bob Varieur ([email removed]). The best part is that they're a mobile franchise and they've got guys all over the area if convenience is a factor for you.
Anyway, I pinged Bob and he quoted me $100/wheel for the 18s on my Volvo. The risk to these franchises is that you never really know what you're going to get if you go to different people but you can always do a search for any comments on the rep in your area.

FWIW, here's one of the rec's I found...

Sounds like Bob might cover parts of Rockland County, too.

Some wheels can go out-of-round too, so ask if the guy is going to check/repair that or is only going to do cosmetic work. I have the same wheels shown in the photo that Marc G. posted above and my indy showed me that my rear wheels are no longer round.
FWIW, I repaired my OEM 17" "twist" wheels using epoxy filler, low grit sand paper, and the following Wurth spray can products:
>Silver Wheel Paint (art. # 1892181)
>GL Clear Laquer Spray Pnt (art. # 0893 351 930-U)
Frankly, they now look like new. The biggest challenge was finding the right Wurth products.

I have tried in different cars with great results. If you don't want to do any work, I am sure you will find plenty of places for $ 200-300 for the whole set.
Give it a shot...you can have it done in about 3-4 hours.
I recently had my CTT and my Audi wheels done. They were powder coated. I have a local guy in Walnut Creek, CA who has always helped on this task. Some of the wheels were bent and he straighten them as well. Yeah, its worth fixing and agree the cost is well worth it
I have painted the edges on mine. I went to PPG automotive and got the two part epoxy paint. It didn't get affected by mounting wheels. Very hard paint and easy to apply.
