I always used Shell because they advertised no ethnol in the gas.

Driving the MH back to the camp site, disconnecting the trailer.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

So i guess there is no difference between exxon gas and shell gas.
Okay guys:
Just kinda curious. I am in Upstate NY and we are paying, right now, $3.90/gal and that is for regular (in my truck)...I haven't really watched the pricing for Premium (for the car), yet.....until she comes out of hibernation (end of March and should be over $4.50 for premium).
I know this track season's consummables is going to be expensive.....
But just curious, where are you located and what are you paying/gallon? Who is getting hammered at the pump the hardest.....Cali???

I always used Shell because they advertised no ethnol in the gas. Now the pumps say 10% ethnol. So i guess there is no difference between exxon gas and shell gas. Am I missing something does it matter which I use as long as it is super?
In New Jersey here, I pay just under $4 for 93 octane (Also didn't realise that the fuel tank is much smaller than the older cars! <15gal compared to the 22gal in my old '86)
You're slowly catching up to Canadian gas prices!
Currently $1.25/L for regular, $1.40/L for premium here in the Ottawa area. With the dollars at par and 3.79 Liters per US Gallon, we're at $4.74/USG for 87 and $5.31 for 91/93.
Word has it that we're going to get hammered this summer.
too funny.
My new F150 has a 36 gallon tank. Thank god they reduced the compression (from the Mustang) so it happily drinks 87 without issue.
Still filling up a 36 gallon tank hurts.....
Glad I sold the motorhome and the boat. At today's prices it would take nearly $800 in gas for a weekend of uh..... driving, driving, driving, finding a place to park the motorhome by the lake. Driving to the boat launch, putting the boat in the water. Driving the MH back to the camp site, disconnecting the trailer. Walking back to the boat....you're starting to get the idea.
If you can still find gas with no ethanol in it use it, as long as it is of the proper octane rating, fresh, top tier, etc.
But if you can't then run gas with ethanol in it. I've run nearly 10,000 gallons (250K miles divided by 25mpg) of mostly ethanol laced gas through my Boxster and it has not suffered any. I've run around 4400 gallons (88K miles divided by 20mpg) of mostly ethanol laced gas through my Turbo and it has not suffered any.
BTW, my info is even though the pumps claim the gas has 10% ethanol blended into it refiners have stayed under that level. The numbers I get are there is between 7% to 8% (max).
Sincerely,
Macster.
+1 here

Oh, the Cayenne is probably gonna be over $80 easy.
I am looking at a used A4 wagon (b5) or something close for those runs to HomeDepot over weekends
We're almost as bad as Sweden here down under (Australia). Filled the beast at about US$6.25/gal ... or around $A1.75/L for Shell V-Power/Optimax (98RON) or whatever they've renamed it this week.
Holy Crap:
I knew that Europe was expensive, due to taxes and they even have engine size restrictions, (Italy), if I am correct. However, it is all relative. here in the States, we are used to much cheaper gasoline, as we are somewhat of a producer/refiner. But shazam, $8/$9/gallon...holy cow, no wonder those little scotters/vespas are popular. I know alot of Europes roads are laid out differently...everthing here is bigger, much more spread out and we like to drive alot.
(And I am not trying to start an oil thread) but, is there really any difference between Costso gas/off-brand verses say Shell or Mobil 1. I know there are additives in the fancy (i.e. expensive brabded stuff) but in most cases doesn't it all come from the same refineries...and as long as the volume is there, then it is all fresh gas, right?
OT, I have been very happy with Sam's Club 93 and Costco 93 fuels in both my Pcar's. I think they do not buy from foreign refineries, but I could be wrong.
The savings I have noted are usually between 10 and 20 cents/gallon, in my area., which is actually quite minimal ( $1.60-$3.20 for 16 gallons).
I have tried the Chevron, Shell, BP 93 in my area also. All the cars need is to be driven like they're supposed to and regularly ( that's where IMO, the ethanol can start doing it's damage on a stored car). Regular and frequent oil changes and periodic fluid flushes. . Done.
Evo magazine (published in the UK) did a gas (petrol) test a few years back.
In short what Evo found was 'supermarket' gasoline was sometimes quite good, indistinquishable from any name brand gasoline.
But at other times it was not very good. The difference was attributed to the supermarket stations using a variety of suppliers.
Less often Evo found a name brand gasoline was bad. Well, not bad, but the test car (a VW GTI) performed noticably different and not in a good way.
This fall off in performance was attributed to 'stale' gas.
Hence the recommendation to buy from a busy station to get the freshest gasoline possible.
Apparently premium grades of gasoline go off quicker than the lower octane grades of gasoline.
Sincerely,
Macster.
Sorry but no way to feel sorry for you guys with the Hawaii prices always being higher. Worse yet there is only ethanol rated at 92 octane that is reported to be not even 92.
It is getting worse! Just filled up the Turbo again last night and oh my I paid $4.499/gallon, up from IIRC $4.439/gallon just a few days prior.
Still in Livermore, CA. Shell V-Power: 91 octane.
Sincerely,
Macster
