Also interested to know if the only path forward to repair the mechanism is to buy a whole new combo switch etc.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

7 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

My indicator (signal to you guys!) is not self cancelling, so I understand I need to buy the whole new combination switch mechanism. I have the OBC for outside temp and km of fuel left and that stuff, but not cruise control. But for buying the combination switch with cruise control, is there much else required to retrofit? Also interested to know if the only path forward to repair the mechanism is to buy a whole new combo switch etc. Thanks!

POST 2Original post

If it is the switch, it usually fails to set in one direction and won't cancel in the other. If it won't cancel in either direction, it could be a broken clock spring tab. I'm unaware of a fix for the signal switch, but hope someone out there knows of one. If it turns out to be the clock spring tab, I repaired mine quite some time ago (see DIY thread, this site) and it's still working just fine. I have no info on the cruise. Good luck with the repair.

POST 3Original post

Just to clarify - Your car does not currently have cruise control, but the new switch has it?

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Yes it wont cancel in either direction. I dont currently have cruise control... I might whip the steering wheel off and see whats happening!

POST 5Original post

POST 6Original post

I did not think they made them without cruise control.

POST 7 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks for the tip Mark, up no cruise installed in my car!
