Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Everytime I see one on the road I am filled with desire....
Leading evidence: 'Fill with desire' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I am borrowing this link from B&W that he shared on the Canadian forum. Some great cars here , but I am sure there should be a debate..the 991 is already on the list ? Check it out.

I like the plain old 3.6 964 Turbo. Gorgeous car that just seems to characterize everything Porsche was that got it the reputation it has today.
I'm with you, once I come into some money I'm going for the classic first instead of the latest and greatest. (that'll be the check I write a little later on
)
That's a matter of opinion. I assume most Porsche dealers believe the most desirable Porsche is the one they have for sale.
Frankly, I think it's way too early to tell whether Porsche got it right or wrong with the newest model.
You know what happens when you assume?
Having driven the 991 extensively on a race track, I have no doubt they got it right. It's not a matter of opinion but rather lap times.
For me the early 959's. Maybe only because I was a teenager at the time, following Group B.. and thought that car was the ultimate machine. Way too many glossy magazines.
Did I miss it ... or did this "expert" skip the Carrera GT? And in it's place put in your everyday Boxster? I thought this fellow was talking about Collectibles till he listed the Boxster. These lovely little Porsche are great... but they are in every used car lot in town... and my 968 is holding value better than a 986 - come on fella, from the description of the 981 and 991 I would say this was a "news release" straight for Porsche AG.
That's nice for you. Did you just pull a random car off the line or were you placed in a hand selected, carefully prepared vehicle? Regardless, lap times are not necessarily an indicator of desirablility or collectibility.
991s have been in public hands for what, 30-45 days? No one has any idea of how they will hold up or what problems may arise as the cars start to get some miles on them. One need only look at the various model-specific message boards to find things Porsche didn't get right on each previous generation of 911.
Considering that pretty much anyone with an adequately funded checkbook can get themselves a 991, they aren't very collectible at this point.
i might stick the '77 Turbo Carrera is the top three as well. The yellow paint with the garish black carrera on the side.....first Porsche I ever sat in.
They were as delivered S models. Some with PDCC and Sport Chrono and some without those options. And we ran the tires off of all of them.
Obviously the 991 is not a collectible but overall very desirable. I am thinking the majority of people who have no bias, would choose the 991S over the 997GTS simply after a thorough test drive in each model. The 991 is a huge leap forward in performance, refinement, efficiency and design. So right now, I'd say it is among the most desirable 911.
Bingo on number 1 the 917. My first and only real choice since it swamps the rest of them. A bunch of shows doing camera angles on race cars going all out were filmed with the 917 as the camera car loafing along. Great car.
Tough part on the 917 is having it worked on. Lots of the design was kept in shop and the frame had wiring and such running through it.
Most desirable is purely subjective.
It's no secret that the rear weight bias is not the best design for the fastest way around a race track.
The air cooled V-Twin motor is by far and away not the best design for power on 2 wheels.
Why do I love 911s and Harleys?
I would say either a 930 or 993 turbo (not sure exactly on the 930 year but a 97' on the 993). I Really prefer ANY of the older Wide Body Porsches, I've been looking, so one of them will probably be my next addition.
