OP: I changed my head unit to get the iPhone control I wanted, but that's a routine job on an '00, whereas I don't know what it entails on a MOST-equipped '03.

I am able to run ipod, iphone, sat radio, usb stick, etc.

However, if it is 2002 or older, then Becker aux-in cable is the way to go if you want to have ipod, iphone, sat radio, etc, using the RCA connector on the aux-in cable with a RCA to 3.5mm cable.

Anyone have any suggestions on a kit so I can integrate my iphone with my stereo in the car? Ideally I'd like to have it dock where the ashtray is. Anyone know a good solution?
When you say integrate, do you mean also having telephony? I have the dension gateway 500 and it works fine charging and piping music through. I use a Bluetooth headset if I want to talk, which is rare due to road and exhaust noise.
That looks like it only works with iPods, though, and not iPhones.

for the mounting solution. I've got one in my other car, and it works really well. (I've gotten one for my 996 but haven't put it in yet.) They're not the cheapest, but as Confucius said: "Buy the best, only cry once."

As I have said, it depends on the year. If the OP has a 2003 or newer then the Dension is the unit to go with. I have put together a comprehensive (with pics) DIY on the install. I am able to run ipod, iphone, sat radio, usb stick, etc.

Not to hijack the thread here, but has anyone installed an iPad in their car? Except for the absence of a telephone, it is the perfect solution for me as I have PCM1. I know that Scussy (sp?) were working on a double din mount...

I ended up getting the JVC KDA-815, and I bought it from

. I'm not crazy about the styling, but it has iPhone control from the back of the unit (so no dangling cords), bluetooth built in, and a color matching display at a good price, so I can overlook the looks. It will be DIY as soon as I get around to it.
I'll post up pictures when I have them; hopefully this weekend but you know how it goes...
Another vote for the Dension unit if you have MOST in your existing car. LVDell's writeup is a good one. If you don't have PCM or an existing CDC you will have to have the CDC enabled by the dealer.
I have the Becker aux wire plugged into my garmin GPS. I use the garmin to listen to MP3' stored on a thumb drive. The Garmin gps has Bluetooth and my iphone is paired with that... Sort of ghetto but works very well.
