Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

5 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

  • Rennlist: 1 discussions

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

2 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Ok guys, So I finally installed my PSS9s on my 2002 996 c2. And of course I have the infamous clunking problem. I took off the plastic cover on the front strut towers and exposed my top nut of the coilover. I noticed that I do not really have any threads poking out of the bolt. Should I tighten down the threads some more? I also noticed that the washers that are shaped like bowls are not tight on both sides. This is when the car is on the ground and not lifted. Is this normal or did I not tighten the top nuts down far enough? Also, is there a way to do it without removing the strut from the car. I took me about 5 hours and I don't feel like doing the fronts again. I have an impact gun but am afraid to use it on the top nuts since this seems like such a no no! any help would be appreciated.

POST 2 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

solved it... no thanks to you guys... actually i found the answer on the forum...

POST 4Original post

Mine are the Binding Sway Bar Link because my car is soooo low, they still clunk every now and then. But i also had Broken Strut Mounts for a while which were replaced this Spring

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I had read numerous threads on sway bar drop links as the root of the noise but my sway bars (H&R) seemed tight and fine. Either way, I was getting upset about the noise so I removed the sway bars and reinstalled them and no more noise!
