Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

5 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

  • Rennlist: 1 discussions

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 1 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

It is kind of funny, when you purchase a used car, I am always waiting for something to break . Well, it took about two months but yesterday the sun roof stopped working and now when I push the button it just makes a clicking noise ( maybe I should have read the directions first ) Fortunately, the car is running very strong and I just love it I would like to try and fix it myself, since I figure it will cost a couple of hundred dollars Is there a thread or some where I can find instructions for tearing into the sun roof system I suspect once I get into it, the issue will be obvious. Thanks in advance for any and all suggestions I have a 2000 996 C4 .

POST 2Original post

I don't remember the thread but I do remember reading about people that had this issue. They cleaned and lubricated the tracks of the sunroof and it fixed it like a charm. I think I remember something about a crush proof mechanism in the system so if the tracks are dirty to the point that the friction is too high it just stops. Not sure if this helps, but maybe it's somewhere to start before tearing into the entire assembly. Good luck

Thanks, mostly what I want is how to get into the area of the motor and cable. I figure once I get into it, I should be able to correct the problem
