BTW -- was today quoted $3500 to $4000 for clutch with flywheel and replacing the rear main oil seal, plus $1400 for the Jake Raby IMS bearing upgrade, would be good work by a good repairer but seems a bit steep.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

10 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi, from Victoria in Southern australia -- am looking for a repairer that can do a clutch, rear main oil seal and an IMS bearing retrofit, any recomendations -- Melbourne or Canberra would be ok -- I live about halfway between. BTW -- was today quoted $3500 to $4000 for clutch with flywheel and replacing the rear main oil seal, plus $1400 for the Jake Raby IMS bearing upgrade, would be good work by a good repairer but seems a bit steep. Thanks

POST 2Original post

I'm guessing that importing the parts plays a significant role in the price. I was in your neck of the woods in January and I kept thinking about how much fun it would be to drive my car on those roads. Good luck with your search.

POST 3Original post

Hey Michael, Weltmeister may be worth a call, don't know whether they've done any IMS's? Good luck, and let us know how you go. Robert

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi Robert, Welt' do the IMS upgrade, 'twas them that quoted, was looking for alternatives, not for any dislike of them, they do first rate work, just being a "cautious shopper".

POST 6Original post

So that $1400 including IMS? How much they'll charge if you import the IMS yourself?

POST 7Original post

Hey Michael, http://www.nineplus.com.au ??? have never used them, but have spoken to Stuart a while ago and he seemed to know his stuff... Robert

That is steep. I think I'm going to take up fixing 996s & 944s when I get back.
