Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

26 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

  • Rennlist: 1 discussions

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Still have the 996, but here is my new weekend project.... The car was originally from NJ (Paul Miller Porsche), the PO owner moved to CO and was sold to a Texan, the last previous owner brought it back to the east coast to NY and It is now back to NJ…. I am 5 min away from Paul Miller Porsche. The Targa is an 86 Meteor Grey and Burgandy interior. She needs a lot of attention but the engine was rebuilt 30k miles ago and has 130k on her. Leak down test came out good with some slight weeping in the engine area, no oil drips. Anyway, I am so psyched to get her up to snuff and will be modding her for for occasional DE…

POST 5Original post

Way to go Ferdinand. Nice Find. It looks great. The color combination looks fantastic & the sport seats look comfortable. I will be anxious to hear how it compares to your other Porsche.

POST 6Original post

First thing, get rid of those HUGE pumpkins! Hey, somebody had to say it! Just kidding. What a beautiful car. A true classic. I just love those old headlights -- a feature I miss on the 996.

POST 9Original post

Sweeeeet! Nice find, Ferdinand. Looks sharp, even with the pumpkins (LOL)! Enjoy the new baby! So, what is the first mod going to be? Bets anyone?

POST 11Original post

Wow, looks clean. Congrat's! Hope all the attention doesn't make the sixer feel too jealous.

Thanks for all the kind words guys... cant wait to drive her more. H4's are on my list, amongs other things. Its a crude machine for sure.... cable clutch, no power steering, noisy, sensory overload.... I think that is the lure though. the 915 tranny is like driving a Peterbuilt.... it needs lots of love when you shift. It is a lot of work to get it up to speed.... but, it is alot of fun to drive. Needs more involvement from the driver.... But to be honest, I havent driven it much since I only had it for 2 days before the family went on vacation.... will let you know when I get more seat time. Have my eyes on a set of 7 & 8 x 16 Fuchs.... but my priority right now is maintenance and suspension.... needs a refresh. But those Fuchs are calling me.

POST 22Original post

awe great -- then I gotta hear you say "You need H4's"

POST 23 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

maybe next year.... what I have now doesnt bother me.... but my suspension at its current state bugs the hell out of me. I gotta post some pics of the front struts if its worth keeping or taking the plunge and putting a new set in.... def needs new inserts.

POST 24Original post

all you need to know is the color (and with the rusted surface it will be tough to tell, but you can find it) Black or gray: Boge Green or yellow: Bilstein Red/orange: Koni White: KYB Special Link #1 full list of exciting threads: Special Link #2

POST 25 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

yeah, I went through all that. The rears are def Bilsteins.... gonna rip it out and check the condition.

POST 26Original post

best place to buy - Tirerack I found out after I bought mine they are slightly better priced than the competition. I didnt think to look there till I was tire shopping and saw the tab... price checked what I bought and they were ever so slightly cheaper. Externally adjusted - for the rears just replace. for the fronts you have to know the strut, they make these to fit several IIRC, I got "lucky?" I have the Boge struts http://www.tirerack.com/suspension/S...ar=&brand=KONI
