Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

In the 2 years I owned the 996 I never even changed the brake pads but once and they were tired when i bought the car...and the tires dont get hot enough to be any real wear...

you might hear your tires a little and might feel your ABS..but seriously there isnt any reason you cant drive it to work tomorrow - I ran the 996 at every event I could get to - we have "skills days" and then an "open session" in the afternoon that would run till we ran out of light.

I also know there is a Zone 1 event at Devens in August(?), if you acquire some skills, you can run with the dedicated Auto-X crowd.
These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hey Guys,
Just wanted to share an amazing day, today. Did my first Auto-X and holy chit P-car man....simply amazing!!!! Yes, I still think the track is more my first preference but, I mean, drive to the place in about an hour......hang with friends, enjoy a cigar, and do 1st gear laps........pretty freakin' good! I do think the track experience helped...but this was a great event. My heart was pounding and the adrelaline was pumping and I couldn't stop smiling. Gotta give it a try, if you haven't! I am sorry I waited so long to try my first event. We got real lucky with the weather, only two passes in the damp, the rest of the day was dry. What a great day.
country911,
sounds like fun. i have been on the fence. i think i would like it. i will learn a lot. but i dont have a large fund for ax/de wear items. i need to drive to work in the morning after an ax. after a day of excitment, how much did your tires wear? i am not worried about brake pads/rotors as i can change them myself, at my leisure and have spares around. tires are a main wear item and a pain in the but for replacement. please share your experience.
If you just occasionally autocross, the wear on tires and brakes is negligible. Don't sit on the fence, go drive! OF course, if you do, you'll be angry at yourself for not having done it sooner...

WTG Country!
and Yes AutoX is nothnig on the car... you might hear your tires a little and might feel your ABS..but seriously there isnt any reason you cant drive it to work tomorrow - I ran the 996 at every event I could get to - we have "skills days" and then an "open session" in the afternoon that would run till we ran out of light. now a DE is a bit more wear on both those items..
1 or 2 autocrosses: negligible tire wear; it's wearing, but you'll probably never notice on a 15-30k tire.
autocrossing 2-3 times a month: tires don't last very long!
All good advice and from my limited perspective, dead on. The driving is fantastic, you really do learn about car control, balance, smoothness..... as for tire wear, I was concerned becuase this set of Sumi's has to last thru a 2 day event next week at Watkins Glen. I hate to rush, buying tires, getting them mounted, etc. Having said, not a lot of wear. It was cool and the parking lot was not in the best shape, so the tiires weren't eaten up. Car and tires and I made it fine. Drove it home, with a HUGE smile and I am taking it in tomorrow for a state inspection and a track inspection. No harm, no foul, just great fun!
Vange- as has been said, simply go! You will love it. A lot less consummables, usually a lot closer to your home, great comradierie, and the driving is spectactular!! Once you do it, you will love it. Hey, a few times a season, (maybe) should be fine....get out there and enjoy! You simply won't regret it. I also know there is a Zone 1 event at Devens in August(?), if you acquire some skills, you can run with the dedicated Auto-X crowd. Now, I have heard that that event is a 2nd gear event, and I would expect a good amount of tire wear......hey, the cost of fun....priceless (within reason).
Me thinks me becoming a junkie. Definately LOVE, love, love, the track....but this Auto -X stuff, I cvould be Jonesin' for some more..........
