Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Leading evidence: 'Replace because dripping at bottom of pump' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Check cross member/motor mount bolted' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

After replaced figured out drip was coming from hose above.

Suggestion
Check the cross member/motor mount bolted to the back of the engine to the 2 motor mounts, it should be straight..

Suggestion
Did you check the mounting at the front of the gearbox?
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Long time since posted. Luckily because running like a top. Broke a belt and went to replace today. No room to slip belt past water pump. In fact noticed pulley so close to engine carrier bracket had rubbed. Wore down bracket so spins freely. Had replaced pump couple years ago. Did I drop some washers used for spacing?
Random guesses...
I would make sure the pump isn't dying slowly, can you push the pulley inward? (Bad bearing)
Or the bolt is loose and the pulley has slid back, it kinda looks in the picture like it doesn't align well with the other pulleys.
Also you may have gotten a unit that was made wrong?
I dont recall any spacers when I put my new engine in..
Pulley does not push inward. It looks in line with others. I have the old pump. Measured its depth. Best as I can measure with it on the engine, its the same.
There is no spacer. It does look like your water pump is too close to the engine carrier. You need enough clearance to slide in the new belt and you have none. Something has moved. Did you check the mounting at the front of the gearbox?
Check the cross member/motor mount bolted to the back of the engine to the 2 motor mounts, it should be straight.. If its gotten bowed for some reason that could be related..
I saw one bent once because someone used it as a jack point. Just remembered that ...
good luck!
Its the water pump. Gearbox mount fine. I have the old water pump. Can see difference in spacing in pics. Put a pry against pulley and it doesnt move back. Maybe came that way?
Old pump is good. Replaced because dripping at bottom of pump. After replaced figured out drip was coming from hose above. Still going to order new pump because the original has a plastic impeller.
The metal one chews up the head when it fails, sometimes fatally, the plastic one "can" shed blades that can be inside the heads / water jacket..,,,
If you treat the pump as a service item and replace every couple years, your pretty covered.
If you pull the plastic and its got missing blades, they could be inside the water jacket..
Not sure what acrobatics might be in order to get them out..
I know BMW has had the same issue.. Metal vs Plastic..
Interesting...what was the brand of the pump removed? Also, it looks like you have a new "Gates" pump ready to install? Word from the hive is try to stick with the German or Italian manufacturers (Laso, Pierburg, Meyle). Some have reported less than desirable results with the other manufacturers, YMMV.
The low temp thermostat from LN is a good move IMHO as well if you live in Florida..
It doesnt "lower" the temps significantly what it does is makes your average temp more consistent.
My car runs right dead on temp all the time and doesn't wonder up and down as much..
