It does have the OEM sport suspension (X73 option) and I installed a set of Nitto tires.....but that's all.

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Just got done getting all the cars cleaned and tucked away in the garage. My weekend car (Turbo), Wife's weekend car (CAB), Race car (Spec Boxster).
Pics of them in the garage as well as a few of the race car and Turbo in action last weekend. Still waiting on the originals so the track ones have the watermark still on them.
Did you ever see that poster "Justification for Higher Education" with the beautiful house and great cars?
I would like your garage to be my version.
Looking good.
Thanks!
Funny you mention that posted as it was one of the first posters I ever had as a kid growing up. That and the white 930 slantnose Turbo. I can tell you that the quote is true. While my wife and I have done more schooling than we care to even count, the reward is that we have jobs we love and the means to enjoy our hobbies.
Those are stock Boxster wheels but I agree, they look great on the BOxster. My favorite on the car. I do have the GT3 wheels on the CAB though
Amen to that. My wife is finishing up her MBA this month (thank god) and I have had mine for a few years. Might be going back for an undergrad degree in engineering to enhance my future marketability.
The P-car has helped to show my cousins that all the "college boy" grief I got from my uncle was worth it. I drive a P-car and he has an old chevy pickup.
Kinda in the same boat. Me and the wife both have our own careers. This allows us to have our hobbies. Her HP is a Jumping Thoroughbred and costs a heck of a lot more than my PCar needs and wants.
No doubt though we are fortunate.
I resisted posting that to your thread the other day but my vote is to keep them all
I don't love one more than the other. THey are just so "cool" in their own way and it's a sheer joy to be able to drive each one.
The BOxster was actually supposed to be done in an "RS" scheme. I got the idea from the silver/orange 997 GT3RS. Unfortunately, the company that did the graphics and my race shop had a falling out so they didn't get completed. All it is lacking is the horizontal orange stripe on the sides of the front and rear bumper and the "Boxster" script across the bottom of the door.
The cars look GREAT, Dell! Man, your wife's Cab looks great with the GT3 wheels!
BTW, tell her I said "Hi!"
Maybe some day, if I ever get another Porsche again, I can drive over to the "research triangle" and visit!
Tim, you know you can just drive one of mine if you are in the area and don't have another P-car yet! Would be great to have you up in the triangle for a coffee one of these weekend. I'll pass along your hello to the wife. I'm sure she'll say "which Tim? is it the the one you promised your exhaust to and threw it in the dumpster?....in that case, tell him I said hello, and that I am sorry for my husbands senility"
Fernando, anytime you are coming up to the RDU area let us know and we'll make sure and take you on our drive around the lake after coffee as well! Many times we end up at my house to work on somebody's car
Whoa Dell, great setup you have there.... My uncle was the one who turned me onto Porsche when I was a kid. His license plate summed it up "MORTOYZ" . Seems you have the same sickness. Good for you man. Im still on my first 996 but one day, oooone day.... I wish to have a garage full Pcars myself.
Dell has a fever... and the only prescription is more Porsche.
Nice cars, but I really envy your garage. We have 3 cars, but only the Turbo sleeps in the 2-car garage. Would love to have a lift, but my garage isn't tall enough.
/m
I do need more garage space. Our daily drivers sit in the driveway outside and the '81 280ZX is in storage. I'll probably sell that car in the coming months.
Owning these cars is a such a dream that I make sure to give anybody a ride that wants one so they can share a little bit of what I love.
My father bought the car in the summer of 81 and I have a lot of memories in that car and in fact my first car as a teenager was an 81Z. Gotta be like Dad
Just before he passed away a few years ago, he gave me the car knowing how much it meant to me. Now I keep it in my trailer at the storage facility.
I'll probably sell it in the coming months since I just don't drive it and it needs some TLC since it is nearly 30 years old. It is in great shape but parts get old. Original clutch, tranny, motor, etc., and have 65K miles.
So Dell, where's the writeup comparing the Turbo to the SP-BOX as on-track tools? In case I missed it, would you mind posting a link? I can only imagine what lap-time differences must be, comparing pure power with pure handling...
I really haven't done a writeup but can tell you this........
The SPBOX is amazing on track. I had it at VIR for the first time since the build was completed. I was very excited and was confident I could get up to speed in 1 day. The Turbo was just the same, in that she had never been on track either.
The Turbo is stock (so 415hp) and no real performance mods. It does have the OEM sport suspension (X73 option) and I installed a set of Nitto tires.....but that's all. Stock alignment as well.
The SPBOX is obviously a full track setup but still needed a shakedown.
Times on VIR Full Course were not that far apart. What the SPBOX could do in the corners the Turbo didn't have a chance and the Turbo did on the straights what the SPBOX couldn't come close to with it's anemic 2.5L motor with a factory rated 201hp
I was able to get the Turbo down to a 2:11 and that was fighting tire pressures all day. Now that I have a better idea of what they should be I am sure I can get in to a sub 210 no problem. The SPBOX was about to run a 217 by the end of the day. I know there is more time I could get out of it as well. Heck, I started at around 223 when the morning started and inly had 3 sessions to work with. SO at the end of the day, a car that has over twice the hp and weighs almost 1000 pounds more (2450 dry versus 3400 dry) was still only 6 seconds faster.
65k miles? Wowsa! That's gonna be one helluva "barn find" for a Z enthusiast! Please make sure it goes to an enthusiast that's not going to ruin it...
/m
I have already spoken a few local Z club guys that helped with pricing, etc.. One of them is very interested. I just need to get off my butt and get a thorough once over done on the car so there are no surprises for me or any potential buyer.
Sounds like fun!
Hey I didn't realize you and Chris (who lives in Wilmington) from the 993 boards were close. Small world, huh?
I'll look you up when I have a chance to make the trip!
Nice to see your taste in Pcars because it really covers the spectrum, and your enthusiasm makes it work so well. I agree that the GT3 wheels look so good on your wife's cab, and the boxster has only one purpose, at the track. Nothing to add about your turbo, it likes both track and road usage. It's also obvious that your love of Porsche also includes sharing the joy with others on the forum, along with your lift, expertise etc. , and that's what why it works so well.
Thanks guys! It really is a sickness and hard to explain to others until they drive one (or at least get to ride in one). It's a sickness best shared with others.
Nice garage Dell!
It's one of my wishes. I'd like to have house with my own garage.
Don't need so much space 'cause the elevator to store the car is a good solution
