Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

8 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I installed a new Kenwood radio from Crutchfield and it is no louder than the factory radio I removed. So I assume my amplifier os bad. I cannot find my amplifier??? Help

POST 2Original post

The stock one would be sitting where that rectangular hole is. Black box behind the covered spare tire.

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

On the amplifier, what plugs in to the black connector?

POST 6Original post

I guess the amp died at some point, and some hack just joined the wires from the head unit going to the amp, to the speaker wires coming from the amp. Should be easy enough to undo, and you might consider an aftermarket amp. Head unit has very little power, as youve discovered.

POST 7 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

So would the thin speaker wires normally connect to the black plug on the amplifier? Where do the thicker wires on the white plug go to?

POST 8Original post

There is a dedicated thread to stereo issues down the 996 forum page, there are like 4+ different systems that are all different in what they can do and how they work. Friendly suggestion, You'll save yourself much time with some dedicated searching.. The C4 amp is to the drivers side of the spare IF you have a Bose system with the MOST unit. Door speakers with BOSE on them are the giveaway, and a sub on the right side of the center console passenger foot well.
