Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

You could also remove the tire and remove the forward plastic wheelhouse liner to see if the oil is coming out of the drain.Good time to clean debris out of drain,

The other question is there any "calibrating" that needs to be done as I have read a few things online that the system then need to be "re-calibrated?" is this needed if I am just replacing a leaking hydraulic cylinder?

Used a white paper towel to soak up the liquid and it looked yellowish to green, thinking its coolant?
These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Ok just drove my 996 from pebble beach car week back to Phoenix. Car sat in garage undriven for about 2 weeks. just noticed in garage after a half hour drive that there is a leak in front of the rear driver tire. All around the jack point was all wet. Used a white paper towel to soak up the liquid and it looked yellowish to green, thinking its coolant? I called my Porsche mechanic and he was perplexed of what can be leaking in that area as there are now lines around that general area. I looked deep in the wheel under the car and only wet around that jack point and it seemed to seap along cross bar toward middle of car. I have enclosed a few pictures. Any help would be greatly appreciated thank you!! (sorry that photos are so big, new to this forum)
here is where the drip collected
the jack point area completed drenched
cross bar was wet down toward center of car. But nothing above wet as I followed to center. just the cross bar was wet.
here is a photo straight up into the area
It is a good chance it might be hydraulic oil from the driver side convertible top cylinders, leaking into the drain trough for the convertible top clamshell.if you put the soft top in service position you should be able to see if the cylinder is leaking.
You could also remove the tire and remove the forward plastic wheelhouse liner to see if the oil is coming out of the drain.Good time to clean debris out of drain,
Ok thank you for the input on my post. I have watched an instructional video a ton of times on how to do this and the video seems pretty solid.
You Tube
And this recommended step by step works too!! (although the photos are tiny)
https://cabriolethydraulics.com/diy-...-instructions/
so between the two above I feel pretty confident on tackling this thing.
Just 2 last questions. ON the instructional step by step on the driver side left hydraulic (the one thats leaking) it mentions a "Potentiometer arm" and says to "please note"(figure 17). But again , the photos are so small to see it. And the video above the guy makes no mention of it. What is thins things function and what do I do about it?
The other question is there any "calibrating" that needs to be done as I have read a few things online that the system then need to be "re-calibrated?" is this needed if I am just replacing a leaking hydraulic cylinder? I must admit the calibration jargon seems like a different language to me and much too technical for me to even venture into. I dont even have the diagnostic equipment to do that anyway
hey there thank you for all the support and feedback. Took me about 3 hours and I curse 4 times but got the new Cylinder installed and all is working great!!! Thanks again for all the help!!!
