As you will be removing the climate control unit from the lower dash, you will either have to fill the space with the original CD holder / cubby or remove it entirely with the GT3 center console delete kit.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

4 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hello rennlisters, I thought i'd make a short post to describe what is required to revert from a double DIN setup (screen on the upper dash, and storage/climate control on the bottom) to a single DIN setup (climate control and radio on upper dash, storage/GT3 center console delete on the lower dash). This was an annoying process as there are plenty of guides of how to install a double din unit but nothing on the internet about reverting to stock. This is for people that hate the cheesy double DINs a lot of owners put in. Personally, I am very content with an original radio with bluetooth functionality added. List of parts required: OEM radio / single DIN unit of your choosing 99655223111 - (Quantity 1) - front face bezel that is normally modified when installing a double DIN unit 99657350100 - (Quantity 2) - support brackets for climate control - 999-919-188-09 (Quantity 2) - screws to secure the support brackets 9965526770001C - (Quantity 1) - surround trim for the climate control unit - There are a few more pieces, but I found them to be unnecessary as they add no structural support whatsoever. As you will be removing the climate control unit from the lower dash, you will either have to fill the space with the original CD holder / cubby or remove it entirely with the GT3 center console delete kit. The process is simple 1. remove double DIN unit, 2. Remove climate control 3. Install new faceplate that accepts single DIN setup 4. Install the climate control brackets BEFORE putting in the climate control. there are 4 screw holes, the brackets are installed with the lower two, then they are fully secured by the second two that go through the climate control unit once you put it in. 5. Reinstall climate control and then its trim piece. 6. Done!

POST 2 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi I have made a mistake regarding the trim that goes around the climate control unit when relocated to the top dashboard. The correct part number is 99655267701c

POST 3Original post

Quotes source post: 17714024

You should be able to edit the original post to correct the part number. Thanks for sharing on reverting back to single DIN. I have a couple of related questions: 1. How does the sound quality of the OEM single DIN compare to double DIN radio it replaced? 2. For your bluetooth solution for the OEM radio -- does it just allow you to play music or is there a mic where you could also use it for phone calls?

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi peterp, Answer to questions 1 and 2. I am still waiting for fit a bluetooth solution. I am currently using a FM transmitter in the mean time so I will not comment on the sound quality until bluetooth is fitted. I will return and post a update/review as soon as I get it!
