I used a large screw driver and leverage that broke the tabs off, then had to go back and fish the tab out of the piston.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

4 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Well, had a brake wear sensor come on a while ago (intermittently). Just past 5000 miles since last oil change, so I decided to replace the rear pads (I miced the rotor and they were good - just did the fronts a few months ago), do a brake fluid flush (last was 2 years ago) and an oil change. Replacing the pads sucks. The frigging shims stop the pads from coming out even with the pistons fully depressed. Anyway put on new rear pads/shims/sensors/hardware and bled the rear calipers. Went for a test drive and the car brakes like a new car. Now for the oil change, brake fluid flush, wheel cleaning. Oh - and while I was out for my test drive passed 6 porsches, 2 911's, 3 boxsters, and a macan. Something about nice weather brings them out. From Nov until March the only Porsches I see on the road are the SUV's and my 911.

Awesome, good job. Wish I was nearby we could have wrenched together, as I need to do the same. Cheers

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Now you tell me. I used a large screw driver and leverage that broke the tabs off, then had to go back and fish the tab out of the piston. I had new shims so it was not as issue but, at least I know for next time.
