Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Reported cause
Totally destroyed the fender and bumper (and the dog was sent to be executed for the crime.) The check engine light was on with a fault code for the O2 Sensor that I found was caused by a rat chewing the wiring harness near the firewall of the harness in question here.
Leading evidence: 'rat chewing the wiring harness' (1 discussions report identifying this cause; no attributable repair resolution). Across 1 matching discussions, the most frequently mentioned possible cause is 'rat chewing the wiring harness' (1 discussions; 1 report identifying it and 0 suggest it). The most frequently discussed action is 'Repair ..anybody know of any post about ps pump' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

Anyone ever had to access the harness run from rear taillights to switch.
These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

This 2004 41000 mile C4S has a non working taillight. At the light the harness initially a change of bulbs did not correct the issue. I did a switch of the harness from side to side and discovered the lights were operational. Also after study of the Bentley Manual provided wiring schematics it was noted that side markers were operational and shared so point being not a bulb issue. Light switch was checked and cleared. Anyone ever had to access the harness run from rear taillights to switch. Is the wheel well an idea...remove the liner which may also have been rodent entry point. Some parts are going to have to come off but trying to figure out where to look. I discovered some debri behind secondary air pump so removal will be necessary. So fellow enthusiasts of da Porsche brand...share please
The harness exits the interior to the engine bay behind the rear seatbelt. U need to pull the trim and foam to access it. Pull the sai pump and u should be able to pull it back from the tail light
Thats the trim around the seatbelt exiting the slot itself I take you to mean...Ill follow up on that on a warm day. I already planned to remove SAI PUMPto look there...good to have a plan instead of winging it. Ill also post pictures so others may follow
Classic or Future?
Not sure if u can get to it by just removing the upper trim piece against the window ir if u need to pull the side panel too. The drivers side just has the lights and a few sensor wires, the pass side has the full engine harness.
I had to pull that harness on a 2004 Cab many years ago. You will need to pull the SAI pump and also the coolant reservoir. The harness goes OVER the inner fender in the engine compartment.
The 04 Cab mentioned had been traded in after a repair/ repaint of the left rear fender and bumper due to German Shepard attack on the car. Totally destroyed the fender and bumper (and the dog was sent to be executed for the crime.) The check engine light was on with a fault code for the O2 Sensor that I found was caused by a rat chewing the wiring harness near the firewall of the harness in question here. I called the owner who had just traded the car in to save the Dogs life telling him the Dog was not crazy, he was protecting the Porsche !!!
upper right where the run goes up behind reservoir after exiting the body cavity where lens harness is. It appears twisted when compared to other side so I untwisted it. I found BL/OR (stop light) and BL/YL(switch). Bentley or Shop manual has decent wiring diagrams. Bulbs werent getting voltage but after untwisting this run stop lights have juice...odd?
Prior to this all fuses checked. Reran the harness and reinstalled lens with working stop light...except for spoiler. That issue had to do with spoiler being fixed and rewiring of that brake light to fool the PCM. So apparently the electrical gremlin has been exorcised.now to these pesky leaking power steering pump lines...hopefully can do without engine removal...ugh...been leaking too long destroying hoses soon...wish me luck.
