Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

27 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

  • Rennlist: 1 discussions

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

After installing H&R lowering springs it, necessitated the need for spacers. Since I track my car, I felt it would be better to go with a reputable brand vs. trying to save a few bucks. I ended up going with 15MM ECS Tuning on all 4 corners. I was a bit worried it might be a touch too wide in the front. While aggressive, to me it looks about just right. Very pleasantly surprised at what adding 30mm to the track does for handling. Feels very planted and stable. Before After

POST 2Original post

Looks great! Just curious who lets you track their car without a roll cage that is 2" above your helmet? I don't want to be a Debbie Downer, but if something bad happened, being in a cab is not the best car to be in.

POST 3Original post

There are some venues that allow the cab combination of the pop-up roll bars and the stock hard top.

POST 4Original post

How do you like Those track tires? Tire rack has those and I was thinking about picking them up.

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 12103386

Thanks. The 996 Cab meets the PCA standards for safety with the pop-up roll bars. I typically go to Roebling Road with PCA and other clubs.

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 12103398

I love them. Supper grippy and when they do release it's nice and even. The only downside they are little loud on the street.

POST 7Original post

Looks good! I just added 15mm to the front of my car (with turbo wheels) and it looks much better.

POST 8Original post

That shows you how much I know about cabs, didn't even know they had pop up roll bars!

POST 10 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 12103561

Thanks. I went the Plasti Dip route. It's very easy to work with and is holding up very well.

Are you headed to Roebling in April with the Florida Crown Region?

POST 12 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 12103814

Hoping so. I haven't registered yet. The DE is sandwiched between spring break and a business trip. How about you?

POST 13Original post

I will be there for sure. I had to move some stuff around the schedule but was able to make it happen. Hopefully it stays dry. That time of year is a crap shoot. I'm in the white group.

POST 14 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source posts: 12103814, 12104278

Cool. I'm in the white group also. I'll look for you if I can make it.

POST 15Original post

Very nice !! I just got a set of spacers from ECS as well. I bought a set of 15mm and another 18mm. Question: What size tires are you running (front and rear)? My car is not lowered (99 996), and I will be needing rear tires soon. I am running 225/40 in the front and 265/35 in the rear, but I am thinking of going for 275/35 in the rear. The car is strictly a commuter (no tracking, but spirited highway driving), and I am wondering if I will have issues with rubbing.

POST 16 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 12134394

Pesuazo thanks. Sounds like you can a good bit larger in the rear. I'm running the same as you in the front and rear 285/30zr18. Not sure you can go with 18mm spacers in the rear with the wider tires. Sent from my iPad using Rennlist

POST 18Original post

Quotes source post: 12134411

Hi Slope, That is the reason I want to put 275/35 in the rear, they are about 0.4" wider than the 265/35, and slight increase in side wall....adding the already purchased spacer (15mm) will add another 0.6" to the width for a total of 1 inch. If I put 285/30 in the rear that will be a width increase of 0.8" by itself, while loosing side wall, increasing the gap between the wheel well and fender (I do not want that, since I am not lowering the car and I am not rolling fenders either). I will continue my research for the best aesthetic fitment (for me). Still, your set up looks great. Regards.

POST 19Original post

Quotes source post: 12134986

Not true. Look at the wheel weights and you'll notice this is the second heaviest out of the 996 stock wheel lineup.

POST 20 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 12135651

I believe they weigh in @ front 26.45 / rear 28.88 lb.

POST 21Original post

Quotes source post: 12136010

Correct, not exactly "super light" in my books. Ironically wheels for the later 996 GT3 weigh even more...

POST 22Original post

what would be the maximum spacer thickness for the front, have 20 in the rear and it looks great. but front wheels are bit too deep and dont harmonize with the rear ones thinking of 15mm, the car has 30/40mm drop any opinions ?

POST 23 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 12138217

I went 15mm in the front and looks perfect. Not sure what wheels you have. Sent from my iPad using Rennlist

POST 24Original post

have the same wheels that you do but the drop worries me slightly

POST 25 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 12138995

Thought so. Looks good! You could go with the 15mm and if needed roll your fender.

POST 26Original post

Here are the various stages of my car. sport design (GT3 style): turbo wheels: turbo wheels & spacer: With widebody 996 wheels on my car with 15mm spacers. Lowered on coilovers. No rubbing.

POST 27Original post

thanks for sharing, added the spacers to my wishlist
