Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

While I did receive all the books and keys, I did not receive the matching fitted luggage that I believe comes with all 40th anniversary cars.
Leading evidence: 'Install luggage' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Install luggage' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. Source reports, not a diagnosis or a success probability. Counts refer to discussions and can overlap.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I am the second owner of a 40th anniversary 911. I bought it from a dealership...it was traded in to a mercedes dealership in Wilmington NC (I live in eastern NC).
Carfax shows that the car was delivered to and spent its whole life in NC.
While I did receive all the books and keys, I did not receive the matching fitted luggage that I believe comes with all 40th anniversary cars. Did they come with a car cover too?
Long story short, I discovered that the PO left lots of contact information in the car's personal organizer function on the nav. So I could call him...or pretty much any of his closest 20 friends...or go visit them and kidnap their pets.
In NC (especially eastern NC) people are pretty friendly and my sister actually lives in the same town right now so she could probably go pick the stuff up if they still have it. Would it be too creepy to call and ask "Hey, do you still have that sweet Porsche luggage that came with the car? I'd like to buy it from you."
i wouldn't think it would be too strange. my father's car was hit, deemed salvage, someone bought the car to rebuild and out of the blue they called and asked if we had the original rims. voila, my father gave them to him for free.
I had the phone number of the previous owner of my Turbo, but I did not call him. Instead, I googled his name, got his email address, and sent him an email.
The end result? I ended up buying a Milltek exhaust and EVOMS headers as well as acquiring all of the sevrice records from him. I'm sure his wife is liking that as he got cold hard cash and a Mary Kay Satin Hands Giftset instead of having all that stuff sit in his garage and collect dust!
Anyway, I figured email was less stalker-like than calling him and gave him the option to not answer or let me know that I got the wrong guy even if he was the right guy. If he is willing to speak to you, then just remember that you now own the vehicle and you just want the truth so you can have closure and move on. I find people tend to be more honest and open when they know that you aren't going to get angry and start nagging them. When I asked about prior paintwork/bodywork or track excursions, I told him that it was water under the bridge and I was just curious even if it was bad news.
Anyway, good luck. It's a bonus that you are offering to purchase the luggage as it gives them more incentive to speak to you and be honest about it, IMO.

if you go in with the intention "to buy" the luggage to keep the car "intact", you should be ok. When I was looking at the 40th also, I was looking if they still had the luggage...it should have stayed with the car...
He may still have it and to be honest, if he didn't include it with the car, then maybe he wanted to hold onto it. I figure that if he wanted it to stay with the car, then he would have do so.
If you're going to call him up and offer to buy the pieces from him, but if you're going to call and ask for them for no charge, then I'm not sure that as the PO I'd be happy to get that call.
you dont need no stickin lugguage.... its just gonna go in storage and never be used. But, go ahead and call him anyways.... Ive seen 40th luggauge go on sale here and fleabay...
I voted no, because I'm guessing the guy kept the luggage because he wanted it. I then read you would offer to buy it off him, and that might be a bit better, but really he took one hell of a hit when he sold the car and he probably figured that at least he deserved to keep the luggage.
Let him keep it.
Well, the way I see is that the previous owner may have wanted to keep the luggage; or, it may just be sitting in a closet or attic and he completely forgot to include it when he got rid of the car. I'm a pretty OCD guy, but think of how many people go trading in their cars on a whim or spur of the moment and don't bring all the additional keys w/ them.
If the owner wanting to keep the luggage is a concern, then I would start by telling the previous owner that if they want to keep the luggage, then that is perfectly fine and I understand, thus, not putting either party in an awkward situation.
Either way, you will never know unless you just ask...

Yeah I don't "deserve" the luggage from the guy because I bought the car from a dealer, not him. The price I paid to the dealer was for what I got. I'm not going to offer the guy a price though; I'm just going to ask him what he wants for it and if it's too much I'll just go without.
Just trying to keep the car original, not to mention it would be useful (I travel up to Atlanta and North Carolina a lot). I probably will call him this afternoon or tomorrow.
shorrtly after i traded my m3 i got call from the guy who bought it, i didnt mind talking to him and we had a nice chat but i was a little annoyed that the dealer gave out my phone number without even giving me a heads up, let alone asking me if i was ok with it
I called my previous owner. Left a voicemail and asked him to call me back if he wanted to. I talked to him, got the code for my radio, found out he put a new battery in a month before I bought it, etc. All in all, I'd be fine if someone called me to ask a question about a car I sold to them. If your PO doesn't have the luggage, maybe he can give you closure! I wouldn't want someone complaining to me about a leaky transmission though.
Classic Seinfeld moment!!
My selling dealer was concerned with privacy laws and declined to put me in touch with the PO. They did however give me the name of the Inde that did most of the work on the car, that shop graciously called the PO and asked for him to contact me. Interestingly, one day when I was doing some thread searches on this site, I stumbled upon another member with eerily similar car. Turns out it was the PO, boy was I nervous as I read through each and every one of his posts!
I've gone thru many cars and don't mind if a previous owner gets in touch with me. The previous owner may be curious to know if his car ended up in good hands. Maybe he's holding the luggage to see if the next owner knew enough about the 40th anniv. edition to realize that it even came with luggage...
If he's near Raleigh and you need help with picking up/shipping let me know.
OT - BTW,
in 1990 I bought a Mitsubishi Mighty Max Sport long bed pick-up that was a repo (didnt know when I bought it) Was clean and had about 10k miles. I just sold it when I bought the P-car and that truck had 180k miles and never ever once gave me a lick of trouble. When I sold it it still looked really shiny, clean and new too
Dont worry about repo, it doent mean anything other then someone didnt make the payment.... they may have loved the car
