I found it better (for me at least) was to go to a couple of small exhaust/muffler shops and talk to them, if they weren't willing to look at some pictures I brought, then I moved on to the next one. The first guy just kind of blew me off and said just bring it by and he would look at it, but wasn't willing to even look at a pic of what I wanted. Hit gold on 2nd stop and the guy liked to play with any kind of muscle cars and thought it would be easy to do. He looked at pictures and said no problem. He did mine (I did the Gundo Hack) for $100, but I gave him $150 I think. He was happy, I was happy. I'm in Seattle so that doesn't help, but it can't be hard to find one willing to do it and isn't scared. I think it will be harder to find someone who has done lots of them IMO.
I knew I was at the right place when I began to describe the mod and the owner of the shop finished the description. Obviously they had done it before.
At the other end of the comfort spectrum was a shop the 'specialized' in Porsche amongst other 'German' automobiles. I described the mod, and showed them pictures. The owner said he could do it but said I would have to purchase a 6 foot length of stainless steel pipe for them to do the work.
I went with the first shop. They did a great job but nowhere near your location.

I did the Gundo hack, so I don't know the diff on the 'fister mod', but they guy will do it. His dad was looking to sell the business, but I think they are still running.
