I am also running the other .1 GT3 body kit parts with the exception of the ducktail which is CSR.

Here's a couple of pics and I'll report back once the engine is tuned and running with the 3.8 FSI motor.

RPM don't sell the rear bar as they told me it was too painful to recreate the setup they had on their test car.

You could always use a UK freight forwarder to send it to you if they don't want to do it.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hey guys! A dude I follow on IG is in the process of updating his 996 with some really nice goodies like a FSI engine AND a CSR center exhaust. I really want one and theres very little on the interwebz on the exhaust so I asked if hed be ok with me posting some pics he sent me, he was cool with it.
It requires a center exit exhaust but I was really impressed with the initial photos. It looks like a quality piece. The owner will be watching this thread and is La_macchina_labs on IG. Wish he was stateside to see it in person but hes in Australia guess Ill have to make the trip?
This is very cool and I like the whole system and the design. If you fish around on the Tube, I think I saw a video of this exhaust on a 997, which wouldn't sound too different. Exhausts are very subjective in sound but I liked this one. I'm happy with the current one but am now itching to try the Cargraphic valved one too!
Everything RPM does looks to be high quality. Center exhaust gives you room for a bigger oil cooler. Guess you gotta get the RPM rear bumper as well. Plenty of RPM videos on their EVO 996 to hear it.
There was a guy selling a full cup body kit for a 996.2 that had a rear bumper with center exhaust so that's an option. Or you can go full DIY a la De Jeeper style. As much as I like the OEM approach I also like seeing a well executed custom work.
Im pretty sure its just a cup center exhaust (all gt3 r side) and it has no cats fitment maybe and issue because cups have a v-band at the header not a 3 bolt flang.
A 997 fvd center dump may work because the mufflers look the same as stock but r half the size.
If I do end up with that set up, Id probably end up with a carbon rear bumper from GT or alike. The Cup version is Kevlar and I believe around $4 which doesnt include the bumper support or crash bar. The guy whos build Im referencing is using a .1 bumper with the center cut and blank plates like
@De Jeeper
did on his sweet bumper conversion.
The vids online do showcase the sound, more of a GT3 pitch which to most of us is pleasant sounding. With that said I believe La Macchinas pics are the only ones Ive seen of the actual exhaust and its components. Hes got a ton of other projects going so hes updating this one as he goes on IG. I asked that he weigh the CSR unit at some point.
The 996.2 CSR was put up for sale less than a week ago. Now already reserved :

A cheap car bearing in mind what it would have cost to build originally.

I know the guy that builds fabricates the exhausts for the RPMT CSR's, he built the inconel/titanium system for my Mk1 996 GT3/997 Cup car engine conversion :
Inconel manifolds :
Ti silencers, tailpipes (and carrier straps/nuts/screws and bolts) stainless X pipe :
His work is stunning, and the complete exhaust was 1/4 of the weight of the OE system.
I imagine that any of the CSR exhausts would only be available exclusively from RPMT, as they'd have paid for the development work and all the necessary jigs.
Love love love this! Nice to see the love for the 996 after all these years.
I really want to go center exit but already have a nice set of heads and X pipe, both of which I just ceramic coated. Has anyone contemplated adding this?

Or this? Adding tube to lengthen if needed to center tips:

I figured but we have a saying on this side of the pond:
If youre not cheating, youre not trying,
Honestly I really dont mind paying the money, sometimes fabricators have input into the design and maybe he had some thoughts or ideas to improve on the current set up.
Hey Team,
Some cool exhaust options on here! Thanks for the post @TheChunkNorris. The idea behind this exhaust is that it's street and emissions (maybe not for Cali, etc.) compliant. For the rear bar I am using a cup .1 centre exhaust though in hindsight a .1 GT3 rear bar is probably better without the manual cutout from Porsche. RPM don't sell the rear bar as they told me it was too painful to recreate the setup they had on their test car. But Porsche do have the side exit blanking plates as an OE option (but had never seen on a car before) on the .1 bumpers. The car is currently in the body shop but you can see how it will look once complete.
I also have a 996.2 Cup, so good to compare setups. There are no shared components and the CSR system has equal length headers which the cup does not. The cats are also integral to the rear muffler on the cup setup whereas the CSR system has isolated high flow cats. The cup exhaust is loud! It can exceed 105bd on track days and would probably annoy every neighbour for a 3 mile radius. The diameter and location of the tailpipes are also better (cosmetically) on the CSR. Interestingly the cup rear bar sits significantly higher across the rear and exposes more of the underside of the car than the .1 rear cup bar. To my eye the .1 GT3 bumper looks better with the centre mount for a road application. I am also running the other .1 GT3 body kit parts with the exception of the ducktail which is CSR. Here's a couple of pics and I'll report back once the engine is tuned and running with the 3.8 FSI motor.
Here is the diagram with the part numbers from Porsche - sorry it took so long. Had to swing past and get from the dealer again. The part numbers for the exhaust blanking plates:
Left: 99650541390
Right: 99650541290
It was a couple of years back - but they shipped to Aus then no problem on sea freight. You could always use a UK freight forwarder to send it to you if they don't want to do it.
hope that helps.
