Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

4 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I'm trying to hunt down all the little rattles inside a somewhat new-to-me 996.2. Any pointers to what likes to rattle the most and how to address them would be great. I did notice one rattling noise coming from the speaker on my dash. I've tried a few things but haven't stopped the noise completely. Going to stuff some foam under it to create pressure from the underside in hopes that helps.

POST 2Original post

Make sure all the mounting screws for the dash cover are tight, then check all the center console ones. Mine were a little loose. After that, bring along a helper while you drive to put pressure on suspected areas.

On the back side of any touch point between a mounting location hole and the item being put back on: Where screw goes through, cut a small piece of inner tube, make a hole in it and thread it on the screw as far up the threads as you can before you reattach. Makes a mini-gasket shock absorber. Works great for dash and console.

POST 4Original post

I will note that rattles in the alien head can sound like they're coming from the dash. Drove me insane haha
