Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I recently had my engine pulled apart to fix a timing issue and now I have a code p0344 and the so-called Porsche expert says the problem is my ECU.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

3 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Good morning all I recently had my engine pulled apart to fix a timing issue and now I have a code p0344 and the so-called Porsche expert says the problem is my ECU. Could that be true?

POST 3Original post

Very slim chance. More probable it is the cam sensor, connector or wiring that is bad (intermittent contact) as that has been handled during fixing the cam timing issue whereas the ECU has been sitting inside the car undisturbed all that time... Did that same expert conduct the mechanical repair? If so I'd be weary of him pointing to all else but his own work as the cause...
